Checking the poll this morning shows over 3/4 of people that responded are over 40, and more than 1/2 are over 50... wow!

When I started driving, gas was $0.50 per GALLON. Imperial GALLON.
When I started smoking a large pack was about $0.50, I paid $17.60 for large pack last week.

$0.23/gal in 1969? I don't think so... more like $0.35. Gas hit $0.30 (US) in 1960.
I remember $0.33/gal. It cost a nickle to fill my mini bike, which would last an afternoon.

Ya you are prolly right. It had to be about 35.

I recall 29 cents a gallon at the High Park Garage just off Roncesvalles. There was a sign "Your gasoline purchase free if we don't clean your windshield, check your tires, radiator ,battery and fan belt."

The place is still there but has been converted into a pricey condo.

Your 25 cent weekly allowance could buy you a shopping bag full of tooth rot.

word, had to save for 2 weeks allowance to buy a new G.I. Joe from Giant Tiger!

In thinking about it, i remember grumbling that i was just 25cents short of a new G.I. Joe per week. I now suspect my parents were trying to teach me the value of saving...well..that backfired.

I remember when I started driving around 1996.....49.9c/L was a good day. .52/L and you lost your ****. Highway robbery!

In elementary school we could ride mini-bikes along the Don River from York Mills and Leslie to Sherbourne and Queens Quay.

In High school I was the weekend manager at a GAIN gas station, I remember when they had to upgrade the pumps because gas was forecast to go higher than $1/gallon. Markham had 2 main roads in each direction that were paved; Woodbine and 48 N&S, Steeles & Hwy 7 E&W.

Consumers Distributing is the current day Amazon...that should've been their trajectory. Loved that place.

yu gi oh and dragon ball z were my go to, I was upset that they didnt show the various other series that they had in japan

When I was in high school you could buy a beater late 60s Charger, Javelin, Firebird for $500. Less for a v8 powered Nova, Maverick or Dart.

A clean 8 year old Kawi H2 with 6000 miles and a blown middle cylinder cost me $300.

I was raised on Transformers G1 and abhore what Michael Bay did to my childhood.

Also still bitter that Hasbro killed Optimus Prime in 1986 so they can sell new toys.
