Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Looks like MP CONTRACTING will have another service to offer…vinyl wall covering! Sub-contracting my wife for the work as she’s doing an awesome job.

Pretty awesome for her first attempt.

For external insulation, real board and batten goes over it easily and looks nice. Cost isn't insane. You can probably use Hardi/smartside/etc to avoid having to paint routinely.

At this point I think I'm just going to leave the bricks alone r14 will be good enough for insulation

I l most all the homes I deal with are 75 years old or older.

There are options and upgrades you can do from the inside. Older homes often lack Vapor barrier or have cold spots that have missing or damaged insulation. Vapor barrier is available in paint form these days - it works well, comfort is increased and you’ll save a little in energy.

A $20 heat gun thermometer van help identify areas with missing, damaged or poorly installed insulation.

Another option is to insulate exterior walls from the inside. Eps can be installed over drywall, then drywall over eps. It’s a lot easier that doing the outside.

I’m partial to the real brick…but the price per box is about $300/each give or take for 15sqft….
I read ~50 SF = $7.00 + per SF. Add in cost of brick removal plus what you find underneath etc.

I've been looking at this product for my garden shed but just one ~ 2' lower run below the vinyl siding. Jury is still out. It has funny corner details reminding me of Insulbrick. Is Insulbrick still around?

The drywall is all coming off the inside anyway I will just reinsulate with roxul and vapor barrier for now. Brick removal would be a day at most right now if I decide to do it pull loader up to wall and pull bricks down into bucket.
