The owls often don’t know you built it for them . You may get anything that likes box houses in there

I’m partial to the real brick…but the price per box is about $300/each give or take for 15sqft….Thinking of dropping all the brick off the farmhouse and putting insulation on the outside followed by this stuff. Can't decide if it is a terrible idea or not. https://www.rona.ca/en/product/novi...k-of-10-panels-496-sq-ft-100340003a-331069189

What's happening at the top? Scabbing in pieces? Huge crown molding?Looks like MP CONTRACTING will have another service to offer…vinyl wall covering! Sub-contracting my wife for the work as she’s doing an awesome job.

The rolls are too short for the wall. Will be completed tomorrow. What's happening at the top? Scabbing in pieces? Huge crown molding?
Doesn't really matter it will be all new windows@Scuba Steve another consideration is if you do external insulation all of your windows and doors are deeper into the openings. Meaning flashing needs to be done and dealt with also.
Some don’t care, but some do.
Wall should be same thickness when done as bricks will be removed if I do this@Scuba Steve another consideration is if you do external insulation all of your windows and doors are deeper into the openings. Meaning flashing needs to be done and dealt with also.

I agree to the horrible look. From 100' they look great, get up close and you'll want to put a bag over your house.@scuba , don’t do it until you can get the Rona contractor desk to tell you where you could see a house that’s been done. They look horrible in person , in my opinion.

At this point I think I'm just going to leave the bricks alone r14 will be good enough for insulationFor external insulation, real board and batten goes over it easily and looks nice. Cost isn't insane. You can probably use Hardi/smartside/etc to avoid having to paint routinely.
I l most all the homes I deal with are 75 years old or older. At this point I think I'm just going to leave the bricks alone r14 will be good enough for insulation

I read ~50 SF = $7.00 + per SF. Add in cost of brick removal plus what you find underneath etc.I’m partial to the real brick…but the price per box is about $300/each give or take for 15sqft….
The drywall is all coming off the inside anyway I will just reinsulate with roxul and vapor barrier for now. Brick removal would be a day at most right now if I decide to do it pull loader up to wall and pull bricks down into bucket.I l most all the homes I deal with are 75 years old or older.
There are options and upgrades you can do from the inside. Older homes often lack Vapor barrier or have cold spots that have missing or damaged insulation. Vapor barrier is available in paint form these days - it works well, comfort is increased and you’ll save a little in energy.
A $20 heat gun thermometer van help identify areas with missing, damaged or poorly installed insulation.
Another option is to insulate exterior walls from the inside. Eps can be installed over drywall, then drywall over eps. It’s a lot easier that doing the outside.
