Hey guys, I know a lot of us try to get back into shape, but it's really hard because of schedules, life and to stay motivated. I have been out of shape for 3 to 5 years. Always eating out and never exercising except for dog walks.
I tried this new gym that opened up near my place. It's an interval training gym. Staff and owners are super friendly. It's located at Leslie and Elgin Mills Road E. in Richmond Hill.
Just had a first trial session there. It was great! They have you put on a heart monitor which tracks how you are doing. It's all colour coded and shows up on a TV hanging on the wall. Blue is inactive (I think), Green is fat burning zone, orange is another fat burning zone for post work out and red is the best zone to be in. I should have listened more attentively.
You work out in a group of 10 where half are on tread mill and the other half are doing resistance exercises with two personal trainers coaching you. I loved it! They really keep you motivated and going just like a buddy would. It's perfect for nobbies like me who don't have a lot of time to research different workouts or be very active in it. The amount of information out there is overwhelming.
It's pricier than your average gym, but this is more structured and has a better flow through. I've joined them all good life, any time fitness etc... but barely go. Over here you book an appointment for an hour. Go in and get guided through your work out.
It's simple, friendly and challenging. I pushed myself way too hard even when they told me to take it down a notch. Ended up throwing up 45 min in lol. Felt great though. I'm going back in on monday to start again.
You get a detailed report of your workout after. Burned 606 calories, ave heart rate 144 max heart rate 234 etc...
Definitely worth to check it out those who are struggling to get started. All you have to do is show up and the rest of it is easy! It's very different from a traditional gym which worried me, but traditional gyms haven't worked for me.
FYI - I have no affiliation with the gym or any of their staff or owners etc...
