Sure there is. They aren't following it. You have stop and identify States. Then you have States that don't provide for that. It's not a Federal level thing, unless you mean a Constitutional Law issue. That's 4th Amendment; right against unreasonable search and seizure.
And they deserve to have the book thrown at them if that's the case.

I was simply pointing out I digest a lot of US policing content (long before ICE, etc) and I find the reports of 'demanding' ID are quite often sensationalised.

Plenty of them turn out to be a cop repeatedly asking for ID and having a heated argument. At no time was the citizen verbally or physically detained, if they didn't know to walk away then that's on them.

How many of the 7's current charges/investigations are going to get vacated on account of their "conflict of interest" (criminals investigating criminals)?

Probably none. Convictions of police officers for criminal acts while on the job make a huge mess. Everyone involved wants to make sure that doesn't happen. The chance of any getting convicted on a serious charge is very close to zero.

It's shocking that PSA charges can't be adjudicated now. There has to be enough evidence to fire them all with cause. We also need a way to clean up pensions for criminals. Whatever money the criminals cops put in should be handed back in a cheque. Any public money that was put in should be forfeited. We need to start suing them for salary over the years as they had one job and specifically did the opposite.

The union published the expected "we support our members and their mental health". F that. It should be "We are outraged at the actions our members are accused of. For bringing disrepute to this fine organization, we have kicked them out."

I would say "far more than should be." When Dennis Mahoney-Bruer was charged a lot of his stunt driving charges went away, as well. And he wasn't even convicted.

That's not what unions are for. They're your advocates, until such time as charges are proved.

In the US, every non citizen is required to keep id and present it on demand to any immigration officer, anywhere providing the officer has reasonable suspicion - 8 U.S.C. § 1304(e). If they can’t produce id, the penalty is minor - BUT- if you refuse to produce id then ice can hold you while they determine your id and immigration status.

Immigration is a federal law, states cannot change the rules or application of federal laws.

they are up to 9 cops charged now , was speaking with a retired cop an hour ago . This needs to go to a public enquiry for any chance of accountability. some of the 9 will retire before this ever sees a courtroom
Opp had a similar challenge corrupt cops and the towing industry. Opp dealt with the issue themselves, quietly and with stealth, the way you would expect police to deal with internal corruption.

TPS Chief seeking suspension without pay for at least 4 accused.
That's a start. Now he needs to stop talking about swift action. He has at least two investigations a year old (cops committing perjury and cops beating civilians without identifying themselves or providing a valid reason) that he has left stalled in the hopes that they are forgotten.

Why the heck do the white shirts feel it necessary to wear body armor for a press conference..?
Those carriers look brand spanking new. LOL

Because the primary lever they pull to justify the cost per employee is danger. In the real world, given their education, IQ and abilities, cops should probably make $60-75K and have an employer paid $1M life insurance policy. Instead we pay them all >$100K even though they barely make the top 10 of dangerous jobs.
