I didn't say they couldn't last. If you skimp on maintenance and/or if you are payingnothers to maintain/repair, they can get expensive fast.I’ve owned 6 of them - all but one had over 200k. At least 2 hit 300.

My knowledge of the German motorcycle market is very limited…
Some people say the BMW Motorrad F-series parallel twins are a bit boring, so you might end up with something similar to your former Hondas.
I think you're right. The 650 VSTROM/VERSYS are at the top of the list.Just broken in but light in details.
2020 BMW F900XR
Buddy who is off looping Australia for the coming months says the Tiger triple he is riding is best bike he's owned. FWIW
The BMW might be tall for you Mimico. I did not like the ergos on my 2017 300G ...or the clutch. 32.5 " seat
Not great fuel mileage and a 15.5L tank size
I'd take a 650 Vstrom over that 900. Vstrom has a 20L or 22L tank.

'Buddy's 2017 F800 has 152000km on it.
After a recent $5800 go-over by by the dealer its probably good for another 152000km.
'The front rotors were $1000 alone.

Other items included new cam chain and valve adj., steering head bearings, all fluids, along with a few other bits and pieces...
Still needs chain and sprockets, but thats a DIY job...

But 152,000km is no small feat!
I read the invoice. It was mostly parts.Wow, another case of a customer leaving the dealership happy...

Tiger / BMW F / Fazer / Tenere are very nice...but are much more expensive unless I go back a handful more years.
Africa Twin would be my #1...but damn the pricing!
The MT-01, the B-King and the VMax are 3 bikes I've always wanted to own for a season. But mostly the MT-01.
I came close to buying one of those when Blackfoot was blowing them out for peanuts after a couple years of sitting on the sales floor. Sadly the fuel range pretty much limits it to bike nights anyways (ok not that terrible but close).
Had a B-King and a first gen VMax and they were both a blast but the king was on a whole other level. The MT-01, the B-King and the VMax are 3 bikes I've always wanted to own for a season. But mostly the MT-01.
My mechanic used to have a B-King in mint condition that he bought brand new and kept with super low mileage. It was with almost always parked in his garage. He also had a couple of the BMW flying bricks and being a BMW guy, he preferred to ride those for casual rides, so the B-King mostly sat around as eye candy. He raced bikes in the islands and was a tech for the Caribbean races, so he didn't have much use for speed in his personal time. I believe he ended up selling it to a neighbour friend for around $5k.Had a B-King and a first gen VMax and they were both a blast but the king was on a whole other level.
