Don't use the straight method if you own a home - it's a trick!
I have expense a home office for 10+ years and survived an audit. Use the largest unoccupied room in your house as your office. Mine is a 18x26 double garage that was converted to office, 1/2 for me 1/2 for my wife + an 8x8 dedicated washroom. Adds up about 15% of the finished floor space, so I can deduct 15% of the house operating costs (financing, taxes, gas, water, electricity, maintenance costs). Then add your cell phone, ISP, and any reasonable office supply costs.
There are rules, bit they are easy to understand. For example, if you hire a painter to redo your kitchen, that's not included in maintenance. A furnace or roof repair is.
Last year I was able to deduct $6200 in expenses, same for my wife. I also get a connectivity stipend, that adds $2400 onto my income.
Ok, been in the chair search rabbit hole for a few hours. Lots of crap out there (both in quantity and quality).
Some people really like ergocentric and they are apparently made in Ontario which is nice.
Reddit/RFD have some good information and links to decent chairs at much less than MSRP. Steelcase Leap V2 @850 (MSRP ~1900), HM Aeron or Embody @1075 (MSRP 1800-1900) etc. I haven't made a decision yet but those options seem promising.

If competitive gaming is your thing there is a Logitech Embody with cooling foam and additional support for 1750 but that seems like too big of a jump for my needs.
If you're looking from something on the budget side, I've had this Hyken full mesh fabric chair from Staples for 2.5 years, which occasionally goes on sale for about $150 or less. It only has 3 locked tilt positions, or unlock it and have it recline based on your weight vs. adjustable spring tension. Luckily two of the locking positions suit me well for working and reclining. Some people have complained the fabric is cheap and wears easily, but mine still looks new and I'm in it for a full work day (and then some) every day.
Right now, my job doesn’t require any mobility so, not sure if I break my ankle how it would go with my manager. Lol.
In all seriousness though, there is more employees off on STD and LTD related to stress/burnout etc. So, the have a pretty comprehensive mental health program.

I'm not going to take 'em down but I'm curious, since we got a bunch of old school managers here, what would you do, during a zoom meeting, if the software glitches and an employee's background showed a bunch of half naked ahegao faced girls covered in white liquid?
I'm half serious about this question because I'd love to troll/see the reaction of the older more sensitive folk and push boundaries. But there are some legit issues involving work space versus home space now, especially since WFH will be VERY common.
If a single female employee (or oversensitive millenial) sees that and complains, you can pretty much kiss your career goodbye. There is no reason to try and "push" boundaries in such a way during a work meeting...

On the negative side, if you have small children you may have to shun them at certain times. I don't know if this is good or bad or situation dependent. If little missy walks in on a meeting where the contractors are discussing the decor of a strip club renovation job they have.......

On the other hand the younger set actually gets to see what their parents do. In the traditional office job mom and dad disappear somewhere in the morning and return 8-10 hours later with money. There is a gap in the connect the dots. It isn't like a traditional farm where junior sees dad driving the tractor etc.

Had a colleague appear out of nowhere at the office the other day as she's been WFH for months. I asked her about it and she said "I begged my boss to let me come in. I needed a break from my 8year old!"

My monsters don't get it. They are too small (3 and 5). If dad his home, even if he is in the office, he should be available every 5 minutes (unless they are watching videos, then they are zombies for hours). Running calculations and writing reports doesn't really help them understand what I do. I am thankful that I can be flexible enough to look after them but it puts a real hurting on income as I punt many of the jobs that come my way as there is just not time to do them with the constant attention the children require. If I have a meeting, the kids get TV. The rest of the time they are supposed to be in school is no-TV time. They can read, draw, colour, play, do learning apps on tablets etc, but can't be mindless zombies.
We are fortunate that little guy is still in daycare (1200/month aside) and the MIL can take care of the younger one while I work here in the basement and wife goes to work.
I pop up a few times / day and play with her at lunch but it’s frustrating when I have meetings and calls and all you can hear is the sound of elephants running upstairs or ‘daddy....daddy....dadda....dadda’ because she wants to shake your hand and forgot to say ‘bye’ lol
Responding to the very first post, because I'm gonna say that half the people here don't know what you're actually talking about.
This isn't Andy's poster of Rita Hayworth we're talking about. You are bringing pornography into the workplace. If you were my employee doing this, you would get kicked out of the meeting with a warning. Do it again and you'd be fired. I would consider my hands tied on the matter, because if I let a #3 happen that would be solid grounds for a sexual harassment lawsuit.
Edit: And relying on the virtual backdrop is an extremely bad idea. You have an IT background, so you should know why
