Where to get a puppy?

Trying to figure out how to teach her to stick to a certain part of the yard….ideally fenced away from the kids.

Walks….now she fighting with the leash as she’s not used to it, but it’ll take time.

So, you ended up getting the exact same breed I suggested to you, but the size wifey wanted. Win-win. :ROFLMAO:

I highly suggest you buy and read Dog Training for Dummies. You'll have no reason for obedience training if you follow that book.

Yup, it basically came down to:
- Bernedoodle - too big and sold before we got there
- Cavapoo - I wasn't a fan as they're super small
- Aussiedoodle - wife was worried but I was on board

Breeder stated 20-25lbs but I have a feeling it'll be closer to 35-40lbs which is still in line with my preference (and 5lbs above wife's preference)

Time will tell, but so far so good. I look forward to going home but work functions tonight until 9-10pm keep me away.

Since I'm at a small construction site...I wonder if anyone would care if I just brought the dog here with me.
 
Some dogs like to do their business in the same area. Our yard is big and not fenced. So, we’ve taught our pup to do its business in the area we want. Now, it will head towards that area when we let it out.


Keep attentive and it will demonstrate behaviours indicating it needs to do its business. A few minutes after waking up from a sleep or nap. A few minutes after meal times. First thing in the morning etc.

For us, Cosmo tends to sniff around the house and the doors exiting the house. Praise it when it does something good like do it’s business after letting them out etc.

Some dogs are quick and easy while some are dumb as stumps. Just like their owners.

Watch Dog Whisperer. At best you may learn something that works for you. At worst, you get to see other peoples' dog troubles and be comforted that you're not alone.

Rewards and praise, keep your expectations very very low for the first few months.
Don't use a retractable leash while training on walks, consider a harness if she pulls/fights the leash as a collar can cause injury. Set schedules and expect accidents.
A dog will give you unconditional love, you're family has to give it back. You're a pack now! We do doggy days in the summer if you're interested let me know. We have 2 fenced areas for off leash fun and training.
