Where to get a puppy?

Ours is 190lbs now. Laziest dog ever in fact we wanted XXL for the laziness. Sleeps in every day, is content with one big walk a day where we let him sniff & smell to his hearts content and he gets his outdoor lounging time in a fenced in yard esp in this weather. Over 120lbs the meds for flea/tick do go up in $ since they only make then for dogs that size. He gets 2 pills a month vs 1 for a smaller dog. Food is a large bag every 3-4wks since he only has 3 cups a day plus cheese tax. Now XXL do have a shorter life span 8-13, our guy is turning 9 next month and outside of his Addison's disease which is controlled with meds he's doing great. I've seen some similar go beyond. He is a mix (St Bernard/Dane) so that may help.

One breed I would NOT recommend is a Jack Russel Terrier. Hyper As F***.
At least ours was. But lived to be 16-17 years.

Dachshunds (weiner dog) are also cool and cute. We had one.
They don't like being alone. But they do like to pee out of excitement when people come to the door.
Imaging a dog laying on its back, legs spread apart and spraying everyone like a water fountain/sprinkler.

I agree with Cranky
Also, being a mutt, it's less prone to genetic issues. My Boxer lived 13 years, but the breed has an average lifespan of 8-10 years because of genetics. My mixed breed that came from my boxer's brother lived 15 years.
Look at Great Danes, they are one of the best breeds for apartment dogs, despite their many health issues and being one of the largest breeds, because they need such little exercise.
No one has mentioned the zoomies. From what I'm told Danes sleep most of the day but occasionally get the zoomies like other dogs and rocket around the house, bouncing off walls.

My bi-colour Shepherd made the last trip to the vet the previous summer ('24). Wasn't going to get another dog. Somehow I now have a Shepherd/Malinois cross that was found wandering the streets of Toronto. What could possibly go wrong?

***SPOILER****

Everything they say about Belgian Malinois is true.
