Very good, overall. If you're a science nerd then having ships actually moving by vectored thrust, rather than flying like planes in space, is a big plus. Some scenes take advantage of the idea that there's no "up" in space and the way that space travel is dealt with, in general, makes it very good from a technical/visual aspect.

The story is also good, so it's not just interesting window dressing.

Vectored thrust? Like in the video game Asteroids?
Genuine question.

Pretty much, though without the slowing down when not under thrust. They have main engines and manoeuvring thrusters. Gravity is generated by being under constant thrust. To slow down you flip your ship around and fire the main engines the other way. Firing the engines left or right means that you're still going "forwards", but now with an angle. That sort of thing.

Really enjoyed the series except for the one main characters annoying forced French style accent. Was actually thankful she was getting killed off with no oxygen but nope she survives darnit.

Also the science behind how their space battles work and high speed G maneuvers. Everything actually follows physics.

edit: almost everything minus the weird alien magic tech

McCartney 3 2 1 was fascinating. Producer Rick Rubin and Macca sit at the console and they deconstruct a bunch of Beatles/McCartney songs. Love how banal the stories behind most of the songs are.

Rick Rubin comes across as a bit of a sycophant, but that was probably done on purpose. Ask simple songwriting/recording questions, let the legend talk and just nod along. No one wants to hear about you.

8.7 Matty Rains out of a possible 10

Would like to see a Season 2 with a different interviewer who comes at it from a different angle. But this was good.

Well that and the incredibly efficient drives, and the pumping crap into your veins to take even higher Gs that should pop every vessel in your skull. At least they used tech that you could envision being developed, rather than constantly yelling about reversing the polarity of the phase compensator.

Ted Lasso Season 2 - picked right up where it left off. Brilliant. Just so, so brilliant. Humour on so many different levels. Base humour, clever witticisms, random hilarious pop culture references all with a massive dose of humanity and compassion. So brilliant.

Its a good show, but gets old with tony and his mommy/womens issues.

For those that care, new season of Archer has started. Still nowhere near as good as earlier seasons
