Suggestions for an "around town" boot?

if you don't have wide feet, toebox especially these are some of the sexiest around town boots out there...they come in a few different colour schemes and with a goretex option.

Puma Flat II for a short boot here. Don't feel anywhere near as safe as my rst full boots but better than when I wear Nikes. I've been looking into some of the tcx options like above as the pumas are getting old.

The boots I mentioned are genuine, non synthetic, and very high quality- the Gaerne Oiled Balance boots are the type of boots you can expect to last 10's of yrs, with welted replaceable sole, super high quality leatherwork with only 7 pieces of leather making up the entire boot. Most boots use many pieces of leather, or more often, Lorica or some type of even lower quality synthetic leather.- less pieces makes a better, more comfortable boot, with fewer seams, more comfort. Also includes a breathable waterproof liner- of course it isn't a cheap boot, but oozes quality.

OK, these boots keep coming up as an option in various forums. Surprising as I didn't see an MX boot as at all being an option.

I would not call them an "around town" boot, but I guess they would work.
But these are $325 - $350 online... you didn't posted a budget, but I was thinking "around town" = $150 max

Alpinestars ST Vented Boots = usd $140

I've been using the Alpinestars S-MX2 shorty boot for years. Easy to walk in and fit under most pants. And they come in White if you are into that sort of thing :lmao:

WHat would you call an "around town boot" then? This boot is reviewed by hundreds and hundreds of seasoned riders as the single most comfortable walking boot they have ever worn....seriously, check it out. Everyone gushes about how they could hike in these, even though they are a full height boot.

A* version of the Sidi Apex, it would appear... and cheaper.

I guess the kind of boot I put on before going to the LCBO to get a six-pack of something. Or when I go to the office on Fridays. A casual boot, the kind you wear when you are not at the track, or going across the Nevada desert.

Now, don't take me wrong, those Garne look so nice... but if your "casual" boots are $350, I don't want to know how much you paid for your "serious" boots...
:D

Someone please define a "casual" smashed ankle please.

I like whats called a "roper" boot, its a western boot minus the cowboy heel. Justin brand are about 139 online, look ok with jeans and can go to the office on Friday. I'm ordering a pair of Gasolina brand boots because they look good for casual dress. Chippewa also makes a great casual boot but spendy unless you are in the US to purchase.
I have never smashed an ankle going into an LCBO outlet.

The roper boot is too western for me, and it doesn't look like it provides much in the way of protection in a motorcycle get off.

The Gasolina boots have a neat look to them, very cafe racer. I like, but not for me.

I haven't smashed an ankle going to an LCBO outlet either, but the point is that I don't want to should I be unlucky.

Some great suggestions in this thread. Many have me looking where I didn't know to look. Thanks all for your suggestions.

While not a motorcycle boot I like the SWAT boots, it's more protection than a hiking boot.
Similar to the SWAT boots, I have a pair of the Magnum Stealth Force boots that have a side zipper so getting them on and off are super fast. These are what I would wear for casual short trips around the city. They provide ankle protection and are reasonably water resistant.

If it's raining heavy out, I'll wear my Alpinestar Web Gortex boots. I have walked all day in them and they are extremely comfortable. If I go on a longer motorcycle trip, I'll often not take any other footwear, because these will do it all for me. I'm on my 2nd pair and my first lasted me around 200,000km or so... My current pair is close to 80,000km and they are still in very mint condition. These also get very good reviews across the board for their price.

I will give a +2 on the Magnum Stealth Force 8.0 SZ. My brother bought them for riding/ then after seeing them I went out and bought a pair. We both quite like them they work very well on the bikes and are very comfortable and light for walking around. I initially was looking at motorcycle boots but i have wide toes and i couldnt find anything that would fit my feet. I have still yet to see / find motorcycle boots wide enough for my weird feet

Thanks Omnivore and Wingboy (and thanks for the info, I did buy from Rob of Lang's Off-Road).

After MUCH research and deliberation, I took a drive out to Dorchester today. While the Gaerne Balance looks like a full-sized MX boot, believe me when I tell you that they are substantially smaller in every regard and fit under jeans without being obvious (unless you're into skinny jeans, I suppose). The boots are very comfortable right out of the box, I can't imagine how they'll be once broken in. I wore them around for the rest of the day (1- to start breaking them in, 2- to make me feel some motorcycle love) and they were great.

Expensive; yes, but then I've gone through 3 pairs of cheaper street boots in the past 6 years (where my Sidi Verts that are worn a lot more than my street boots are 9 years old and still going strong).

That has been my boot for the last few years. Not water proof by a look long shot but they are amazingly comfortable when broken in. The sole can be retread as well.
