Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Yeah it's an issue. Especially with the vehicle size arms race we have in NA. If you have kids or even large dogs it's too tight back there. My mate's retiring next month and he's Italian so the 500e we pick up tomorrow fits his needs. 🤌

I mastered parallel parking living in the GTA, so it it's an absolute doddle to use that thing in those tight parking spots that others have no chance of squeezing into. I rented one in France a couple of years ago, it was a gasser and a manual but navigating through jammed coastal towns was easier on the nerves that's for sure.

Hell, I remember the PITA trying to park in front of shops all along Lakeshore Blvd, it would be perfect for that.

Losing track of the EV battery entrants Changan ....with claimed 1500 km range - CATL battery....
what's that ...Toronto to Atlanta on one charge.
Now pleeeeeeease bring a baby version to motorcycles.
According to Chinese reports, this Changan battery has an energy density of 400Wh/kg, putting it in the upper echelon of solid state units.

Electric vehicles that get this battery fitted will reportedly be able to travel more than 1,500km off a single charge with it.

Claims mean nothing without real world experience.

I can claim to be 30, 6ft tall, and rich with a full head of hair. Sadly all of those are a lie. Show me the proof and validation.

As for the 500e…I’d love one as a commuter (same as a Mini EV). But right now neither is an option due to cost.

Hell I even considered the Mach-e as a viable replacement for the Odyssey.

Sadly it won’t fit the requirement and I’m not replacing the Maverick so soon.

Maybe the F150L would work….just gotta convince my better half.

I can go down the street and buy a hybrid BYD pick up, I see them on the road every day, and it's successor just released. Is that real world enough?
Being in a restricted market should not mean ignoring the wider world.

When the largest EV seller in the world BYD, and the worlds largest battery supplier CATL, make statements and claims.
Worth consideration IMNSHO.

Tesla??? nah ...they burned any cred a while back
...an edge case tho, not all manufacturers should be painted with the same tar.

Discernment is the key. :coffee:

Some BYD coming to Canada this year.
BYD is planning to enter the Canadian market, with reports indicating a potential arrival in 2026. Following 2026, Canada announced a tariff-quota system allowing up to 49,000 Chinese-made electric vehicles annually at a 6.1% duty, opening the door for BYD to introduce models like the Atto 3, Seal, Dolphin, and Seagull
Not likely in your interest area tho mimico.
.....
Move on move on nothing to see here.....
I am hoping the sodium batteries hit the moped market this year...then I can start seriously looking for some next year with a decent range.
My worry is seat comfort :sneaky:

Certainly for local trips this is fine and 1/2 hour charging brilliant. I could live with this design.

And here we go!

Gotta wounder how much of a gatekeeper transport Canada will be.
Seems they have a history of arbitrary behaviour as far as how stringent they are regarding what passes for certification.

Agreed. Even some US models can't come to our roads because of slight differences in standards.

Been a while since I looked into it but last I checked it was daytime running lights, and some higher speed impacts to the bumpers slightly over the US standards. Mind you it's been a long time since I checked into it.
