According to Chinese reports, this Changan battery has an energy density of 400Wh/kg, putting it in the upper echelon of solid state units.
Electric vehicles that get this battery fitted will reportedly be able to travel more than 1,500km off a single charge with it.

Not likely in your interest area tho mimico.BYD is planning to enter the Canadian market, with reports indicating a potential arrival in 2026. Following 2026, Canada announced a tariff-quota system allowing up to 49,000 Chinese-made electric vehicles annually at a 6.1% duty, opening the door for BYD to introduce models like the Atto 3, Seal, Dolphin, and Seagull

Agreed. Even some US models can't come to our roads because of slight differences in standards.Gotta wounder how much of a gatekeeper transport Canada will be.
Seems they have a history of arbitrary behaviour as far as how stringent they are regarding what passes for certification.
@mimico_polak buddy bought a couple. He may have info on owner experience.I saw a Vinfast today. According to Google it's from Vietnam but backing out of Canada.
Resale and service costs / value ?

Financially, EVs don't work for me as a primary vehicle but if the price was low enough that a complete loss over a couple of years was survivable I could be tempted. Insurance is a factor as well. I probably spend as much on insurance as I do on gas.@mimico_polak buddy bought a couple. He may have info on owner experience.
Resale and depreciation will be brutal.
I so regret not buying an EV instead of my Maverick as a primary vehicle. I have the charger, and I wasn't expecting Doug making us RTO 5 days/week.Financially, EVs don't work for me as a primary vehicle but if the price was low enough that a complete loss over a couple of years was survivable I could be tempted. The very short blurb I read on the Vinfast suggested them dropping out of Canada but building a plant in the USA. Would that make DJT happy?
FWIW, a friend bought an IONIQ9 and loves it. It would be a functional equivalent to the odyssey for everything except long road trips (range over 500 km). Price is insane though (tickling six figures).I so regret not buying an EV instead of my Maverick as a primary vehicle. I have the charger, and I wasn't expecting Doug making us RTO 5 days/week.
Had I known that...EV 100% as the commute is so much cheaper in comparison. No gas. Less maintenance. Less parts. Less noise.
It just works.
EV as a commuter is definitely the best case so long as you can charge at home nightly.
If I could talk my wife into getting an Ioniq5 or something that size instead of the Odyssey...100% is what we'll go toward.
I looked at the IONIQ9 and EV9...80k for a new one...F that. I'd rather just pay 50-60k for a new Odyssey instead.FWIW, a friend bought an IONIQ9 and loves it. Try to get a raise and buy a 5N. Best of all worlds (except initial price).
