I can reliably get hot peppers if I start early enough but for any that might turn red from green that would be rare but it’s happened before. It’s a harvest in the last weeks of the season though. Toms are good but I have lots of green left at the end of the season on the beefsteaks. We ripen the green ones indoors but we also get a very reasonable yield of the big ones unless we have a big issue with blossom end rot (which usually shows up at some point). No issues with cherry toms or medium bush toms.
I didn’t realize the growing season would be that different to TO.
A solid couple of hours removing some morning glory from the back chain link fence so my wanna be vegetarian mastiff wont be getting into it.
He will have some of that for salad and he will be off for a couple of days.
With the 50 feet of hedge gone it's time for something to hide the pressure treated Berlin Wall. My gut feeling is to wait until spring. Looking at some junipers and cedars for colour variation.

Wife doesn't like roses but the clematis on a trellis might work. The neighbour kindly paid for the fence and it's on his side of the line. Vines tend to grow through but a trellis makes the trimming one sided.

Some other vines are a bit more vigorous like honeysuckle or wisteria but they can become pests if they really get established. Also wisteria is poisonous for pets I think if that’s an issue. Clematis is pretty benign as it’s a lightweight vine. There’s also grape vines too.
If you really want to get fancy you could espalier a fruit tree against the fence fruit too.

Somehow killed one of our burning bush plants. All leaves went limp so I figured water (even though the rest around it were fine). Water didn't help. Dug around it to make sure it wasn't water logged but it was fine. Got worse after I dug up around it so I trimmed what looked dead off it. Have tried giving it some sugar water and also tried (twice) to leave a soaker on it for 30min but still no luck. No bugs/mites on it anywhere I can see. I'm at a loss. Not completely dead yet but pretty much every leaf is now dried out.

We had an established lilac bush die for no reason right at the start of the season and lilacs are hard to kill. No bugs, wasn’t water. No idea. Very strange.

In heavy snow years, mice will nibble the trunk of burning bushes, sometimes the bush dies, most of mine have died back then recovered after a hard pruning.
I have 2 of 3 left in my garden, both looked dead 2 summers ago, they came back. Their 3rd sister didn’t.

I know next to zero about gardening. How far back should I prune it? They were about 2.5’ tall in the Fall, rabbits ate them back to about 1’ but they all came back bigger than ever this Spring and all are doing great except for this one that looked great up until a couple weeks ago.
The japanese beetles and I are in our yearly battle. They like to eat my raspberries and basil. I typically grab the beetles and dunk them into a container of soapy water and they die. On the upside, it looks like I have been lucky enough to add some soldiers to my team. Winsome flies lay their eggs on Japanese beetles and the larvae eat the beetles. So now I need to inspect each little bastard and if they have a white dot, let them go as I want as many winsome flies around as possible.
