The idea that "the government" will get us out of this mess is laughable.
Anyone here who has ANY connection to or experience working for/with ANY level of government can attest to this.

The plague will do what the plague will do regardless of government action/inaction.

So 5 days of kids going home and infecting their parents who went shopping and went to work. These idiots should be charged.

Lord have mercy if we get a more serious virus one day with this mentality.
A few years back my wife was told that someone in her office workplace of several hundred people, had tested positive for Hepatitis. They were not allowed to name the individual or say anything that might aid in identifying them. The company couldn't even name the department.

The government doesn't seem to have any problem with targeting individuals or specific groups when it comes to new or increased taxes because it's for the better good. But when the country is having to state deficits in trillions instead of billions suddenly the person's rights are important.

There are exceptions to the young offenders act that allow full identification of an individual if the 14 YO guy is still running around with a sawed off shotgun killing people.

Government BS at all levels.

I'm a bit baffled at the "more serious virus" comment.

23,000 + dead, many recovered but suffering after effects

our health care system decimated: postponed elective surgeries are not just cosmetic. Many are to allow a person a more normal life. Cancer tests delayed. People afraid of hospitals.

People dying without a family hand to hold. Compassion is one of the human traits.

How serious does it have to get? Apparently the Brazil variant is worse and will arrive shortly if not already here.

Do we have to wait until C-19 mates with Ebola?

Interesting interpretation of vaccination data. Jane and Finch has 5% vaccinated, Moore park has 22% vaccinated. "Dr. Andrew Boozary, the executive director of social medicine at University Health Network, says systemic discrimination has led to the discrepancy and the data is showing the same tale of two pandemics in who is being saved." Or maybe Moore park is rammed with doctors and health care professionals that were at the top of the list? Correlation does not necessarily equal causation.

Tomorrow? At least by me, you can book a test and be done in less than an hour from notification.
Credit Valley has been a minimum of 1-2 days from request. Online booking out in the future.

That sucks. Appointments are better than waiting in line in the car for five hours like the first time I went but I was hoping we would be getting much closer to real-time by now to get people tested and back to being a productive member of society. The last time my kid got kicked out of daycare for a runny nose (it was cold outside and didn't run before or after daycare), I booked the test for 40 minutes out, picked up the kid, drove to test centre and done. Test results appeared in 24 hours. Negative, back to normal life restrictions.

I wish. Kid got kicked out and daycare said ‘if he doesn’t have any symptoms for 24h he’s good to come back.’

Monday comes around and they ask for test results....earliest test is Wed, 24h for results and then Good Friday. Wish they told me they want test I wouldn’t had it done sooner.

Missed a full week of daycare but they have a program in Peel where you get refunded if kid goes home for testing. So there’s that.

Well, i think we can safely guess who the next Ontario Premier won't be.

You think so? I don’t want to enter politics but I think he’ll get voted back in unless the Libs or NDP throw in a superstar.
Personally,i see his botched lockdowns as a direct influence on the increase in infections. Of course JT is equally responsible.
I think voters will remember this.

My point was, we’re ******* this up with a virus which has a relatively low mortality rate. If we can’t get this right we’re in trouble if something worse comes along.

Not trying to downplay the situation.

I hope you are right. I really do.

but I wish we had a viable alternative. And not the ‘best of the worst’ type, but an actual, qualified, experienced, realistic candidate that can help lead this mess and us out of it.

Not to play politics in this thread, i seen JT last night on the news saying the provinces are struggling with getting the vaccine into people’s arms, and the federal government is ready to step up and give a hand.

He made a talking point that distribution was left to the provincial leaders

I wanna take a moment to laugh at all the people who wanted China to take accountability when COVID started and completely ignored the fact that our government (and the US government to a larger extent) was obviously sucking at their job from day 1 (when compared to countries that "had their **** together.")

Some people didn't realize blaming China was a complete waste of time, especially if trying to get them to take accountability lol

It's funny...but not in a 'haha' kind of way.

Biden/US is vaccinating at an awesome rate, and I believe there was some mention of having all eligible people be able to access the vaccine on April 19th in the US. That's fantastically insane. While I understand they have home grown capacity...we could learn a thing or two instead of looking down our noses at the US.

Again with the headline not matching the underlying data. This graph is NEW covid cases per million, leaving new out of the tweet has most people assuming cumulative which is substantially different. Cumulative, US has ~95,000 cases/M and Canada has ~27,000 cases/M. I'm not saying we're doing well but I dislike when people misquote stats (or leave huge holes for misinterpretation by leaving out key words).
