imo its mostly economic, cost of living keeps going up, wages arent

on a somewhat related subject, do kids still skateboard now? or is that also a dying art?
ime, the kids that don't have a lot of money (cheap, fast, easy to keep valuable possession safe) and the kids whose parents have dumptruck loads of money skateboard. In between, not so much.

You just get more bitter and jaded with age. I’m shocked how much I’ve changed in the last decade....especially towards politics. Was so naive back then.
5 years ago I was super naive. Told myself by doing a good job, like in school, I'd get rewarded because people like seeing others succeed!

What I found out, instead, was I like seeing others succeed because I'm weird, many others don't care or want to see them fail. And the only way to get a decent salary hike is to shove one's competence in the company's face, or **** integrity and loyalty and go job hopping every other year, creating a complete nightmare scenario for smaller teams.

I miss seeing the world in a more pleasant tone lol

Pretty soon the early 20 somethings will start blaming you for their hardships - like you had direct influence on making it hard for them to buy a house.

I **** on people who do things for money instead of providing value for others.

So if someone has more than one house, chances are it's for the same reason scalpers bought GPUs, to make money and nothing else.

While I understand why people do this, I'm also allowed to look at them and say "**** you." There are ways to make money and provide great value.

I'm a home owner btw lol

capitalists vs speculators.

Speculators are the leeches of society, providing no value, creating nothing, doing nothing, relying solely on amassed lazy capital to exasperate bubbles(housing or stock)

All this talk about money makes me think again about how we should

Younger me figured this out before older me did somehow...

The way the system is setup requires losers. If the bar gets raised too high, all costs go up. Early retirement, in a very ****** up way, is easier done if the vast majority is busy living pay cheque to pay cheque because this often results in lowering the bar.

I don't know many people like my fiancee and I that make what we do, but live like two broke jokes. Yet, I live in a building full of Ferrari, Lambos, Porsches, and other $100k cars. We have a Corolla :)

Many teachers are also quite poor at financial management lolol

See, I'm jaded as a black duck <.<

Software development in a problem domain that helps people.

Doctors, nurses, etc.

You're assuming everyone has the financial and intellectual ability to be accepted to those programs, never mind complete them.

Well, as a fellow Dark Souls player:

git gud!

I don't disagree with you though, and admittedly that's a whole different problem even the US army has failed to figure out Is it truly illegal for the US Armed Forces to hire someone whose IQ is less than 83?

But lets be honest....those who are buying houses and GPUs to make money are not stupid. Neither task (the setup of a crypto rig, or buying multiple places) are for dumbasses.

 Cure the problems with health care by selling the medical practice system computer software.
Too late, it's been attempted tons before, the software becomes obsolete faster then the hardware, but keep up the good work.

Please explain your rationality behind this; I'm genuinely curious.

I'm also genuinely curious if you did a good job or not with whatever health care system you worked on because HUUUUUUGE chance I'll bump into it. Your ability to rationalize and explain your thoughts would really help me in that case.

Well I was in the computer software business and I was in Health Care
and that is exactly how it worked out since the onset of computer technology in the Health Care industry.
The software becomes obsolete faster then the hardware and that is very fast.

you serious? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Half and half lol

The dude has said very out of touch comments regarding tech throughout the last year where I've gotten to know some of you. So I really am curious what's going on in his head, and every decent developer can explain their thought process (he worked on every health system in Ontario after learning C++ in a crash course or something.) So perhaps I'm missing something and jumping the gun too fast?

Dude was a NeXT Registered Developer before that.
Dude ran a scientific instrument business to service medical equipment since before computer technology arrived and even more when it did.
Dude got into CCAC because he knew UNIX servers and network electronics
Dude retired and rides motorcycles professionally now

don't lie, you went on to see the young ladies and the bikes are a bonus.

really surprised at this poll though. I was in that early age bracket when I joined this site. I wonder if its insurance or the commitment to real conversations that's driving the young ones away.

It's mainly insurance and the short riding season, doesn't make much sense. Other provinces and the states are far better than Ontario for motorcycling. Just is what it is. I spoke to someone from upstate NY who started on a r6 and only pays around 300 a year in early 20s... Forget that out here, you gotta start on groms or 300s and still get bent atleast 1k+

It's really just too expensive :( I also joined in my early 20s. Was paying $1400/y or so for a RSV and GSXR prior to the RSV.

....I'm happy I never got tickets lol

Ask him what coverage was on his policy for 300 a year.
