2020/2021 Raptors-NBA Thread

Heard he had potential contact with someone just before the game who had a test which came back 'inconclusive'. So they pulled him until they can confirm the result.
Agreed, just found it completely boneheaded to let him play when you don't have confirmed results

Risking exposure to another team who is travelling on a back to back

Seems like some preferential star treatment bs

Richaun Holmes name has been tossed around, he's on Sacramento

Younger player who has a good midrange game for a centre, he's on an expiring deal

Not sure who we would give up to acquire him, but I think he would fit Nurse's system
what C do you think they should have a look at?

agree 100%

do you slide VV over to point? Powell becomes your starting 2?
I really like the idea of that, and would allow more floor time to develop Flynn

what C do you think they should have a look at?

really missing Ibaka

edit: vs Nets tonight, that'll be fun to watch
Andre Drummond, league rebound leader and 2nd in defensive rating IIRC.

he is expensive, 28 mil i believe.

so maybe swap Kyle for Drummond + bodies/picks.

I'm a fickle fan
after that performance last night

no way I want KLow gone, lol

I like the idea of Griffin
I know he's not a center
but 3,4,5 are interchangeable these days depending on the matchup's

imagine him, Pascal and OG as starting front court, get outta here!

if it's just money and picks, let's do it!
and they can have Baynes for free

and good move to let Flynn get some floor time with the 905

he's on a 1 year contract, you're proposing we resign him, for 30mil? I'm not saying he's not worth it, but the long game says get something for him while you can. you'll probably get less back every year you hold onto him.

good point....but they have until FA silly season to get that done
a lot depends if the brass is okay with a first round exit

or shake things up for a deeper run
I think the fans want improvement this year

with all the cap space saved for a no-go on the Giannis plan
wonder if they have enough to keep Lowry and get a decent Center?

hate to beat a dead horse but they let the perfect go who was also cheap
Mafuzzy Chef belonged in TO

yeah well they managed to F that up if the previous reports are to be believed. not sure if you caught it, but they basically told Serge to play bench again while they chased Gasol and ended up losing both.

That's a shortsighted trade x10. Hack a Shaq v. 2.0 with Drummond the bricklayer.
Can't play him in crunch time until he gets a few things sorted out. Nice guy though it seems.

And KD hasn't finished a game against the Raps in years!

All that said, the Raps are still a good team. They had a rough start and lost some very close games, mostly due to 4th Q collapses. They are 8-4 in their last 12 and hopefully they can stay above .600 the rest of the way. Playoffs will be hard on them without some sort of internal or external improvements though.

there is no easy centre pickups that i can see imo.

Drummond gives you rim protection we don't have, exceptional rebounding on both sides of the court and is a defensive monster. I don't care if he can't shoot, we have shooters.

For all his flaws, Drummond would be an upgrade to Baynes, but Cleveland will want prospects and picks for him. I don't think Toronto can afford to give those up especially considering the depressed equity of draft picks these days.

Retrospective pity they didn't re-sign Ibaka.

2 wins in a row against the bucks. That is good. Milwaukee is slumping but you still have to beat who is in front of you.

If they beat Minnesota (and they should) next, they get to .500

Revenge game tonight, back to back against Philly should be good.
Lowry should be back by then, let's see how we do against WebEmbiid

Is hack a shaq still a thing? I thought they removed that from the game?

I recall after that used to happen so much, they brought in a rule that a player could not be fouled while the ball was being inbounded. When Shaq was on the floor during late game situations, this was a common tactic to put him onthe line without using up any clock. He would miss and then the opposing team would grab the defensive rebound and make a quick play down the court. If you do that now, then they get the two shots and they get the ball back.

But while play is live, then as far as I recall doing the hack a shaq can still happen. The only exception to this is the clear path foul, when a player is ahead of all others on a fast break but get fouled in desperation. Again - 2 shots and the ball is what happens here.

eh, wasn't this their 9th game straight on the road? Nick went to the bottom of the barrel on the bench for this one.
