What was the the biggest waste of money you ever spent on your bike?

Close to $600 for my GIVI hard case setup.

Found the rack in Thailand, found the top case in Etobicoke 2 blocks from my house, and 2 E21 cases in Alberta. Overall a lot of money to spend on a 250 but hey...I've used all the items regularly, and I can take the cases to the next bike so not a total loss.

Considering a new exhaust in order to save weight, but might sell the bike this season....will know in a week.

.

Wouldnt call it a waste if youve used it a few times

I just bought a LED light for the brake/tail. Chalk up another $35 in ******** money.

the good LED tail lights cost a lot more than $35. i have a tripage and i think its about $120. very bright, signals are clearly visible.

I read that as he meant bulb for the tail lights. Could be wrong, though.

I would say my Givi full hard case setup is perhaps the best money I've ever spent on the bike, alongside my heated gear. Expensive for both sets of items, but completely worth it.

I thought my battery was not holding a charge properly. It was only one year old and a Yuasa (US not Chinese). So bought a new one. Turns out the old one was holding it's charge after all. Now that's a waste of money.

Getting a new exhaust to save weight for street riding is a waste of money.

and everyone does it anyway.
Guys are buying full pipe and ECU systems for 300s for $1200++ to maybe get one horsepower.

Good tires are never a waste, as are good pads and good brake lines.

Dunno I doubt SS braided lines are noticeable for street riding

Then as someone who has actually done it I can enlighten. This ONLY counts for the machines I've experienced.
older GSXR's (my 92 1100) had a dramatic improvement in feel from a change to stainless. My TL1000's also had this improvement. However, my FZR1000 and YZF750R had no noticeable change whatsoever. Yamaha's brakes really impressed me in the 90's.

It all depends on what the OEM decided to install as stock.

Maybe the some/most of the improvement came from flushing the fluid and properly venting the system. Bikes really don't have that much pressure.

I would have thought so too if I didn't already do that previously as part of my new bike prep.

Enough to swell old lines. There is still enough pressure to stop or lock, but the feel can get lost.

could be. either way, cheap LED's are everywhere. they are ok for turn signals but i wouldnt use them for a tail light or brake light.

Could have bought a slightly used Akrapovic pipe for fraction of what it cost brand new, instead I just had to order a full stainless Graves exhaust from the states because it was "cheaper" but than once the customs and duty and exchange rate... it ended up costing me $1500 wen the used akrapovic as being sold for $700. Oh yah and for some reason after I got it installed, bike was having rough idle issues so I had to get it flash tuned... $200 later... Even to this day wen I look at my bike I still wonder what was I smoking wen I paid that to get a exhaust set up... oh and btw my bike came with full two brothers on it.
