The seeds could be dead as they were in hiding for 1.5-2 years almost in the garage.

Not sure how long seeds are good for. I’ve got a bunch more from the same batch so may try in another soil mix but it’s getting late in the season to start growing.
If you get a chance pick up some jiffy 7 starter pellets they work well for starting seeds and some even use them for cuttings.
Don't sweat starting this late in the season still plenty of time to get a good crop.

Thanks! Will plant 2 more tomorrow just in case…

Do seeds ‘die’ if they’re dormant? As in is there an expiry date?

Its hard to give some definitive shelf life for seeds, too many variables.
If i were in your shoes i would plant 12 to 16 seeds in a propagation tray with a humidly dome in moist but not waterlogged media and remove the humidly dome once a day for around a hour a day while keeping a eye for mould around the seed sites.
With luck and viable seeds most should sprout within 14 days.
Once they sprout remove them from under the dome and if possible expose them to slightly diffused natural sunlight.
When the seedlings reach 4" to 6" tall i would pick the 4 that i like and gift the surplus to others.

6 seeds. 6 weeks for 4, 3 weeks for 2…zero growth.

This experiment has failed.

Added 2 new ones into small pots and 2 into the ground.

Will see if this works at all or more failures.

Feminized. 5’ minimum. They will grow up to 10’ tall if I pruned, and 5’ across.

Auto flower 2’.

5’. The need good air circulation and full sun.

No. But there will be considerable fragrance that will be noticible up to 100’ from a mature plant.

Auto flower plants are not as fragrant. You won’t smell them.

Feminized. Plant them in the ground.

Auto flower are great in pots. They need minimum 12” diameter and 12 tall pot.

Photo plants (feminized seed) grow much larger, take longer to mature but yield 5x or more. Auto flower are simpler to grow, mature faster and are more compact and grow well in pots (so you can move them)
Couple things to add here:

I won't grow in the ground anymore, because I want smaller plants that require less time & effort to trim and as Mike mentioned, I also want my plants to be able to be moved around if guests come over, or for other reasons. I'm looking for around 1/4lb per plant.

When growing in pots, I start off with a pot that is smaller in size and as the plant and it's root mass grow, I transplant into larger pots proportionate to the plant or root mass size.

I've been around situations where 10+ strains are being grown side by side in very similar conditions and each strain ended up being a different size, shape, yield etc.. Consider looking up the plant strain info to get a better idea of it's specific growth habit and other characteristics as an initial sense of what to expect.
