I'm just wondering if it's worth the $650+? Also wondering in they are really undetectable?
This is a motorcycle forum ... None of them are undetectable when the contraption that does the radar-detecting has to be line-of-sight to the radar unit (therefore, mounted in a location where it can be seen) and the contraption that blinks flashing lights and alarms has to be visible to you (therefore, visible to others)!
They can all be detected if the officer switches on the radar unit and notices whose brake lights come on half a second later.
None of them will do any good against LIDAR (laser). Yes, the detector can detect LIDAR (if it is mounted line-of-sight ... i.e. visible!). When it detects the laser, your goose is cooked - it means the officer just aimed the LIDAR unit straight at you. YES, supposedly you can use "blinders" ... more visible-from-outside stuff that has to be mounted line-of-sight to the LIDAR unit.
They will not do a lick of good against airborne surveillance, which could be used anywhere that they have the pavement markings.
Nor will they do any good against people phoning in complaints about someone being an idiot on the road. Everyone has cell phones with cameras these days. Remember that. You're not the only one capable of taking video.
If you want to not get tickets, it's better to keep your situational awareness switched on and not do things that make you stick out like a sore thumb. Never be the fastest vehicle in sight. No weaving through traffic. No lane splitting. No following too closely. If you want to do something a little, ahem, out of bounds, do it where no one is looking and make sure no one is looking. And don't post video evidence of your transgressions on the internet ...
Haha ... I'm just pointing out that a radar detector is not a police detector, so don't be misled into thinking it makes you invincible. I've found the best ticket-avoidance method has been to not attract attention to oneself. Quiet muffler, properly-mounted license plate, lights and signals and mirrors all there and operational, don't be the fastest thing in sight in traffic and don't be an idiot ...

Why spend $650 when running is free?

It is, unless you record your criminal activity and upload it to YouTube. Then you gotta pay the retard tax.
If you decide to run for it (and I hope you don't) remember that the cop will be chasing you from behind.
Oddly enough where your plate is located.
After the cop has your plate, he will back off.
AH HA you say, I out ran the cops.
Until you get home with a police car out front and a tow truck to impound your bike.
If you had just pulled over you might have talked the cop down to a point where you wouldn't lose points.
