TV shows currently watching

Completely forgotten The Expanse Season 6 and all the drama leading up to it.

Then I will start the books which go much further.
Getting tricky to get the earlier seasons - for instance Amazon does not have the rights in Australia - even for the books th partner at least has downloaded the Audio books.
I can't access them on my phone. Might need a VPN for this but think I will read rather than listen.
Certainly the best scifi series ever by a large margin

Was not very engaged in Wednesday Season 2 but Frump Tower was a treat.

I, on the other hand, quite enjoyed it. It was nice to see the rest of the family get involved more. Catherine ZJ seemed more engaged with her character than she was in season 1. Gomez doing a take-down of the clearly unqualified host at Pilgrim World, in Spanish, was note perfect.

I watched the MH370 documentary on Netflix “MH370 The Plane That Disappeared “.

Pretty sure I wasted most of my time watching this as after a factual start it descended into a bit of conspiracy theory mush. There's some interesting characters though and the Malaysian authorities don't look super competent in the series.

The Expanse I found to be more fun, though the last season felt a bit off.
Part of the problem is the books have nine "seasons" and there was a lot more ahead but there would have been a 25 year gap so powers that be decided to truncate the series.
That said ....there is no reason now that the Season 7 8 and 9 could not be shot with the same cast a they have all aged appropriately with one exception who could be recast.

Production values are superb

Started Brigands Quest for Gold but did not catch

I kinda watched 2 episodes of Foundation yesterday. The other problem with this series, too much exposition, basically talky talky narrative. Distracts from what is going on instead of the characters doing or we seeing them do the things.

Edited my comment, which I may have confused for the Expanse, but meant for Foundation.

The first episodes are confusing - I bounced off the series a couple of times early when it was on SF.
It's considered the best SciFo series ever -
even 10 years on the popularity is solid and widespread - even to the tattoos. For me it is superior to anything out there..
Lot of Canadian actors. Hang in there. The details are incredible and accurate for hard scifi ....no "beam me down" or FTL shite.
Just how they handle the handhelds and zero G is outstanding.

this has me engaged right from the get go tho a tad soapy/
one reason I'm watching
Steven Strait, who played James Holden in The Expanse, joined the cast of Chicago Fire as Flynn Calhoun in 2024
Damn 14 Seasons hope it's worthwhile....so far okay - edging on soapy but it paces really well.

One reason it's so engaging...guy is good
damn Dick Wolf is producerr - Law n Order in his CV amongst other ….shows

Hitler and the Nazis: Evil on Trial on Netflix. https://www.netflix.com/ca/title/81561941

Really good documentary with some dramatized scenes and colourized vintage video. It's about the rise and fall of Adolf Hitler from a vagrant in Austria to The Fuhrer. The common threads tying everything together are the Nuremberg trials after WWII with some original footage and really interesting testimony.

I've seen and read a lot of history on this subject but there's some neat details in this documentary. One that stands out that despite Hitlers obsession with the perfect Aryan race is neither he nor his acolytes are examples of this supposed perfection. In fact they are mostly very ordinary very weedy individuals and none with blond hair.

There are a few points where you think “wait a minute, that's happening now again” but be careful with some as they have been added for dramatic effect. “Make Germany great again” wasn’t a Nazi motto but it's used in the series a few times. We all know why. Still there are other factual events that have chilling mirrors to today. Quite a few unfortunately.

Great series. Definitely worth a watch.
