This weather

Sorry guys, this one's on me and my usual bad luck. I took a break from school because I needed a change from the full-time work and study grind. And of course, the weather decides to be weird now. I’m calling it—next year, it’ll be perfect for riding starting in February, just when I’ll be stuck in a chair cramming for exams.

It has been a strange year weather wise. I fear another year with little to no riding for me. As soon as it's nice I'm cutting grass all day...

My kids in North Alberta have twenty four to twenty eight ( and fires ) but my friends going to interior BC this week are fighting snow near Kelowna. It’s not just our weather that’s a bit weird this year .

It's effed the plans to ride up and camp at Shannonville for VRRA this weekend. They'll be running rain tires.

I have been on bike trips for the May long weekend and we have had snow so I am not complaining. A quote I love from a CS Lewis book, part of a trilogy about weather:

“Don't you like a rather foggy day in a wood in autumn? You'll find we shall be perfectly warm sitting in the car."
Jane said she'd never heard of anyone liking fogs before but she didn't mind trying. All three got in.
"That's why Camilla and I got married, "said Denniston as they drove off. "We both like Weather. Not this or that kind of weather, but just Weather. It's a useful taste if one lives in England."
"How ever did you learn to do that, Mr. Denniston?" said Jane. "I don't think I should ever learn to like rain and snow."
"It's the other way round," said Denniston. "Everyone begins as a child by liking Weather. You learn the art of disliking it as you grow up. Noticed it on a snowy day? The grown-ups are all going about with long faces, but look at the children - and the dogs? They know what snow's made for."
"I'm sure I hated wet days as a child," said Jane.
"That's because the grown-ups kept you in," said Camilla. "Any child loves rain if it's allowed to go out and paddle about in it.”

I love all the various weather conditions we go through if I am prepared for it. A rainy day not wearing rain gear is horrible when outside, dressed appropriately and it is great! Same for snow, or sun. It is all beautiful and good when you are prepared.

Doesn't seem to weird for May. Victoria day long weekend has always been hit or miss, based on years of experience trying to see fireworks at ashe bridges bay, or hanging out at Niagara falls. Having said that, the weather overall seems a bit delayed this year with it taking longer to stay consistently warmer and freekin less windy.

Maybe i'm just getting old, wishing for the sun on my shoulders

No it’s not just getting old , we raced sailboats last night , it was cold and miserable. We are supposed to race tomorrow night , rain and cold predicted. I’m not enjoying it like I should . I think I’m just done trying to “ make the best of it “ . Drying out riding gear , getting guns cleaned after shooting clay targets in the rain . I’m over it .

My buddy who spent 4 years in Sweden said that their line was "there's no bad weather, you're just not properly dressed"

That said riding all day in the rain, to set a tent up in the rain does not appeal to me.

Same more sun would be more then nice, I've been planning a trip (in Canada) and this current weather makes me want to do something else all together, and go where they have lots of sun and blue skies.

Big TOP SECRET trip??

I'm on the "it's been sucky this year" train.

I'm usually cycling and motorcycling a whole bunch. Heck last year my first bike commute to work was april 10th. But weather is windy and miserable which makes me want to do less of those things.

This weather is really starting to depress me, Looking at the forecast it's not showing nice till mid next wk.

Welcome to Canada or at least Ontario!

Now you know why I tried to get permanent residence in Oz where it is sunny (Oz is the skin cancer capital of the world) almost all the time. Unfortunately Australia runs a far better immigration system than Canada where we let everybody in. I also had to come back as I was totally lost without Justin's leadership.

I'm sick and tired of this weather too. Cool weather or the occasional rainy day, sure, it's May. But it's just this constant stream of crap combinations that are getting tiresome. If we get a sunny day, it's windy. If we get a rainy day, it's surrounded by 3 other rainy days. On a sunny day that's not windy, it's freakin cold.

I think we've had one single day that was comfortably warm, not windy, rainy, or somehow crappy.

I guess we've been spoiled the last 6-8 years by short winters and early (and nice) springs, but after this winter we just had, getting kicked in the teeth by a crappy cold windy cloudy endless crap spring is just grating.

I thought we were having a pretty good run of sunny weather, honestly
