This weather

Oh look, after 6 days of **** weather, it’s Monday morning, gotta head back to work, and it’s beautiful outside. 🤨
Agreed, finally a day I can cut all 5 acres, and won't be able to due to work.

Meh! It’s a sign of getting older! We complain about the cold and rain. Next month there will be chirping it’s too hot and seeing too many squids!

I can gear up for cold and (some rain). Riding in an oven with or without gear isn’t fun at all.

Beautiful day today in Ottawa.
Too bad I’m still tired from the weekend.
Should be ok on the bike tomorrow if the weather isn’t sh!t.

As the years have worn on my desire to leave the garage when the weather is ****** has drastically decreased unless it is part of a bigger trip.

A few years ago we left for our annual May 24 weekend ride to the Adirondacks in torrential rain, but that was part of a bigger trip in the forecast at our destination was completely different so it made sense. We geared up, rolled out, and everything was completely drenched before we reached the end of the driveway, but we rode out of it and enjoyed our weekend.

If I was leaving for BC this morning and it was pouring, I would gear up and go no questions.

But I was thinking about going for a ride up to Bancroft for lupper today, and it was not only raining here, but raining 75% of the way up, most of the time there, and likely most of the way back based on how the radar is trending.

I’m itching for a ride, but not at the level where I am going to gear up to leave the garage, get to a restaurant soaked and have to strip off all that gear, only to put it all back on again for a repeat ride through the rain to get home.

Again, if it was part of a bigger trip, it would have been on the road hours ago no matter what. If it was a necessity to get my bike from A to B for some reason, same, I would be gone already.

But for an “enjoyment” ride, leaving the garage knowing that I was going to be getting wet for probably 75% of the ride, not so much.

Psst... You don't go for the ride while it's raining. You go before its going to rain, so when you get caught in it, you're already on the way home, so it's no big deal.

Great except for the days it rains from the moment you wake up until the moment you go to bed like many days last week.

But yesterday and today reset the counter all is good again. Oy I am not looking at Wednesday....🌦️🌦️

Hard to say, when they indicate rain it could be overnight, when in most cases it's not a problem. Thursday is also looking iffy.

Brill day. Had a bit of a rip around Westport and late lunch at The Cove by the lake. The only downside was that it’s near impossible to get decent priced food outside of a chip truck now.

Well i'm off for the next four days, looking at the forcast well FML rain for the next four and sun again on my day back to work

On the plus side the cold has kept the mosquitoes down. I’m sure on the warm days they will wake up.

I was doing some gardening yesterday evening planing all the perennials and some new shrubs and they all found me just fine - right around dusk I was swarmed. Both of my Thermacells were in the trailer so I had to resort to soaking myself in deet.

Anyhow, it was beautiful all day today, saw endless bikes out on the roads while I was at work...got off work, it clouded over. Got out for a few hours anyways, was nice.

I'm realizing more and more that I am really enjoying slab a lot more than the backroads...or at least, backroads I've ridden a thousand times. I zen out on the slab...I just get kinda "meh" on the same old same old backroads I'm increasingly finding.

What is slab? Slow, loud and banging?

So for those that didn’t know , when the weather forcast says forty percent chance of rain means forty percent chance in your geographic zone they track , maybe not where your standing . So if you track radar on your phone you can sometimes ride around the showers . And often you just get wet anyway .

I heard similar from a Goldwing rider. He said around 115-120 on the highway away from the city and you are in a zone. Not worrying about intersections, stop signs, hidden country driveways. Your bike needs that open road. Heck we all do.
