Honda nostalgia

I’m very nostalgic towards several bikes I’ve never owned. Their sound, their look etc.

Gary’s CB1 is one. lol.

Hawk GT is another from the same era.

The Magna and Sabre V65 prior to that.

Suzuki Katana 1100 from back in the day and of course the GSXR.

Kawi’s from the 80s and early 90s also stir thr soul.

Yami genesis machines. Oh boy!

I’m off to build another garage to accommodate all of them! Wife wants a she shed. I think a motorcycle theme with get a nod of approval. 🤷‍♂️. NOT! 😆

The bike with the red frame is the older one, it's for sale. I like the V85 so much, I bought another one, then swapped the bodywork and wheels.
is the v85 your first adv bike?

I have had a lot of motorcycles and wished I would have been able to keep most of them. The reality of it is that often something has to go to make room for something else. I also have no misconceptions as to what each of my motorcycles was and was not. I loved my little Kawi G4 TRD100 with its dual range transmission. I road it winter and summer, sometimes like a motoXer, many times like a trials bike but mostly it was my fun, go anywhere commuter transportation.

I should have kept my RZ350R as just weeks after I sold it they announced the RZ Cup series. Same for my NS400R. Speaking of the NS400r it was down on HP because it was a 400cc up against the Gamma’s 500cc. Oh and just for the record, in the Am600 class at the Sanair Nationals in 1989 the first three bikes were all new FZR600’s followed in fourth by my NS400R ridden by Perter Wilson. I think the first Gamma was back in 6th.

I am glad I got to experience my RC30 but, it would have made a better track weapon than an Ontario back road carver. Trading it for my 1998 Ducati was a good thing.

If it had not been for the huge factory screw ups and the Canadian importer/distributer not having a clue about how to set up, run and maintain a dealer network I probably would have kept my MV Agusta F3 675. But when the dealers started to jump ship I was left with a lemon and no one around to make lemon aid. I literally gave it away to chap in Sarnia who was just a short drive across the border from an MV dealer. My loss his gain!

I don't remember much about my NS400R other than loving the distinctive paint scheme with the yellow patch. It was my first sport bike after my first dual-sport, so I do recall a huge learning curve with the additional weight and alien riding ergo's. But then I only owned it part of one riding season. When I see one, I enjoy the looks, but don't feel the desire to own one again. On the other hand, I still get excited every time I see my old 89 GSX-R750RK:

Not to add fire to this but a very clean, never down, Africa Twin with ~15,000km was just listed for sale near Oshawa on Marketplace for $10,000 including nice additions like alum bags and nice (real) skidplate. Old guy claiming it's too heavy for him now.
That's a steal ..

Listed beauty Africa Twin in Oshawa is now at $9800……
Messaged the guy this morning. Unfortunately I’m out of country so doubtful it’ll happen but…

EDIT: well he’s not interested in a trade + cash deal. Guess I’ll need to sell chop chop.

The very first “onboard” video of Tail of the Dragon I ever saw was at the January show about 30 years ago. They said the guy was riding an early, modified Goldwing. What a sight to watch and the sound that bike made even in mono. Anyone know the video I'm talking about?
I bought a copy of that video on our first visit to the Dragon in 1999. Now I’ll have to go dig it of its hiding place so I can relive it again!

This one is from 2005 and it's Yellow Wolf on the Goldwing - the oldest one I can find on Youtube.
There's probably older videos of him on VHS, Beta and Reel to Reel if you know where to find them.

The thing about nostalgia is that we only remember the good stuff. You might want to also try recalling all of the reasons you sold it before you end up buying and selling another one.

Exactly! Of the 17 motorcycles I have owned so far, I regret selling my 1986 Suzuki RG 500 Gamma and my 1975 Honda CB 400 Four Super Sport, but only because back then it was a matter of $$$ and I could not have two or more motorcycles. I learned my lesson and since then now keep the motorcycles that fit my riding style...comfort and long range.
