Honda NC700

That is one hell of an impressive feature list.

Now, can they just make it look badass? Why does everything that looks badass have to be extremely inconvenient? And why does everything convenient have to look so boring?

Looking boring isn't the worst thing in the world. At least the bikes that look boring don't require insurance payments at the level of a small condo mortgage.

???

Just what is impressive??

The mileage, the storage, the centre of gravity, the torque and the X for adventure. :-D

The price perhaps?

At least it doesn't look like a scooter.

When this comes up behind you move over :D

You a ventriloquist now??? ;)

I'll give you the mileage and you really want to go offroad with a chunky twin geared weird?
Do recall the BMW is pretty cheap and truly an adventure bike then there are KLR650s

all year round
The down under ride is appropriate to the trails there but one of the reasons I'm in this thread is long term I want a compromise I can live with when I move down under permanently.....still not there yet

I rode a KLR on and off road for 90,000 km before I switched over to a lighter, more dirt worthy bike, but in doing so I gave up comfort on the highway.

I'd never do more than gravel roads with the cast rims on the nc700x, but it's sure to be a better mount than the DR650E for the highway. And low down grunt is something I like. Short shifting? The KLR, DR and Versys all have their power in the low end, unlike an in line four that doesn't pull until over 7,000 rpm.

I'm intrigued, and after Patrick Trahan gave it a nod, really interested in giving it a demo ride.

High side that BMW and see how much that "adventure bike" costs to put right.

I've ridden the twin F650GS, my sister's single F650, my brother in laws F800GS, and the first two held no appeal, the third cost 18,000 with bags out the door.

Maybe what I need is a 450 Husaberg, a V-Strom and an ST1300 in the garage. :D

That Honda could be a do all bike with the exception of offroad, provided one can get a rack and hard cases for it. Heated grips.

What size tires does it take front and rear?

There is another good option out there, the Yamaha Super Tenere. If they made a larger tank size to match, or get close to the GSA, I would be giving it some serious thought:

Has the shaft drive, ABS, spoked wheels, switch modes on the fly depending why type of riding you are doing, different luggage options, and a rock solid reputation.

While I think the NC700 is a really nice looking bike, looks very similar to the Multistradda, it looks much more road only then a GS or Supere Tenere. Though they are all big bikes and not the first to look at if you want serious off road riding.

Good detail review by an owner - the DCT version which I'd like to ride.

owwww...Honda will not be pleased....

Last para is a killer but it reflects my son's experience and mine.
However I really think the DCT version and the Integra have potential.

read reviews of a few different hondas over the years, stating they are dull. Dull maybe compared to a SS, but I doubt its really that bland where its not that fun at all. I have enjoyed and had fun on bikes of all cc classes, this looks like it would be no different then any other fun bike to ride.

BIKE magazine (Uk) has been testing the NC700 for a few issues now. The apparently got an amazing 65mpg while they were doing multiple top speed runs. That's 65mpg whith numerous WOT top speed runs.

They also take it to Spain and say it handles great.

They also test it along side the Integra scooter and the NC comes out on top. They didn't like the Integra much.

I love the NC700S. I want one. Great handling, great Fuel Economy, storage room enough to put a helmet in.

It's not for everyone, but It's definitley for me.
