Favourite Christmas movie

I prefer the oldies like Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer (the ones that were narrated)...hubby makes me watch Scrooge, The Polar Express and The Grinch (Jim Carrey) every year without fail...

Quiz time - how many reindeer does Santa have ?
Best answer is lots. It gets tricky if you're trying to count the one's pulling the sleigh, if you include Rudolph.
There are eight mentioned, but only seven including Rudolph in the movie. There are other potentials including Clarice.

From the song there were indeed eight pulling the sleigh, plus Rudolph = nine. The forgotten one is Olive, the other reindeer.
Sorry, not sorry...;)

Love Polar Express!
Something kind of eerie about it.
But the message of “Believe” is a powerful one.

My favourite is "Get Santa".
British humour with a nice message. Some bits for the kids and some bits f
or the parents.

Our household favorites:
"A Christmas Story"
"A Christmas Story Christmas" (not Christmas Story 2 (n) ) is worth a watch as many OG cast return.
1932 1951 "A Christmas Carol" with Alastair Sim in B&W.
"Love Actually"
"Happiest Season"
The Rankin Bass/Videocraft Intl. 1964 "Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer"
"White Christmas"

Of course many others if we see them on TV.

Alastair Sim was 1951.
There are a whole whack of versions.

It's a Wonderful Life, Alistar Sim's A Christmas Carrol, and (my favorite) A Christmas Story and more recently Elf. My wife loves Elf as we watched it with her father during his last Christmas.

I fondly remember all the old Rankin & Bass shows, Rudolf, Santa Claus is comin' to Town and (less fondly) the Little Drummer Boy, though I don't seek them out. And as much as I love Charlie Brown, I don't search for it anymore either.

At the same time, I absolutely LOVE the Charlie Brown soundtrack. Vince Guaraldi's Charlie Brown theme, is one of my favorite pieces of music and probably spurred my interest and life-long appreciation of music and musicianship from an early age. The album is beyond a classic, and so melodic. It's great to just sit and absorb or play in the background.

I also love Greg Lake's father Christmas and still listen to it on the 45 I bought decades ago.

This Hallmark Christmas movie was one of the first films my daughter worked on. So of course we watched it. Then watched it again when my Mom was over and again when my son was home, etc.

It's a horrible movie, but the behind the scene running commentary provided by our daughter made it interesting/bearable.

Forget movies (although it's been made into a soso movie now) my favorite Christmas story is listening to Fireside Al Maitland's reading of Fredrick Forsyth's The Shepard.

The year is 1957. An RAF pilot is heading home from Germany in his DeHaviland Vampire, for Christmas. Fog sets in and all radio communication is lost.

Have a listen and tell me you're not hooked.

As a kid I watched Charlie Brown Christmas. I remember leaving notes on the TV because it only came on once a year... If you missed it, there was no recorded options.

My annual favorite now is Its a Wonderful Life.

The Grinch of course....I even own a hoodie. Bah humbug 1765076116667.gif
