I prefer the oldies like Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer (the ones that were narrated)...hubby makes me watch Scrooge, The Polar Express and The Grinch (Jim Carrey) every year without fail...

Best answer is lots. It gets tricky if you're trying to count the one's pulling the sleigh, if you include Rudolph.
There are eight mentioned, but only seven including Rudolph in the movie. There are other potentials including Clarice.

Trading Places is absolutely a Christmas movie. Dan Aykroyd sadly pulling a pilfered salmon fillet out of his Santa beard is a burned in memory

From the song there were indeed eight pulling the sleigh, plus Rudolph = nine. The forgotten one is Olive, the other reindeer.
