Favourite Christmas movie

None, they all seem the same to me.

A Christmas Story for me, largely because I was friends with Scut in high school
Yep. I think it has lasted because it captures the feeling, better than any other. of being a kid at Christmas, regardless of generation. Wanting a particular toy so badly that you feel it with every fibre of your being (GI Joe hovercraft was my Red Ryder BB gun one year), the weird traditions and routines your parents and extended family would go through that didn't quite make sense at a young age, the manic energy kids of a certain age get as the day draws closer, and if they didn't do it themselves, everybody knows at least one other kid who licked something cold and metal and got their tongue stuck.

I didn't grow up watching it, but we watched It's a Wonderful Life a couple years ago, and it was a way better movie than I expected. Muppet Christmas Carol and Scrooged are also ones we'll re-watch occasionally...

It use to be Bad Santa, but it has been replaced by Violent Night. David Harbour = best Santa evar.

Violent Night II (working title) has been announced for next year.

I've never been onboard with Die Hard being a Christmas movie, it's fun that it's during xmas, but if so might as well include Trading Places as another non conventional movie.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Die Hard, Jim Carrey as the Grinch, and A Christmas Story are always playing in our house this time of year.

Add Home Alone 1 and 2 and you've got a full set.

Trading Places is absolutely a Christmas movie. Dan Aykroyd sadly pulling a pilfered salmon fillet out of his Santa beard is a burned in memory

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is probably my favourite.
We also watch the following every Christmas: Elf, Home Alone, Deck the Halls, The Santa Clause (all three), Grinch (original and remake), The Polar Express, Die Hard, The Holiday, Love Actually, Klaus.
I really enjoy Klaus.
