Leaving the generator near the hookup or wheeling it out when needed? If it's the latter, consider building a sound isolating box for it as it makes a huge difference. I built one out of scrap plywood I had laying around and put hinges on the walls so I can fold it up out of the way when not needed then easily pop it over the genny when in use. I measured a 20dB reduction in sound using mine. I don't use it for short outages but I've lost my power for 9 straight days a couple years ago and it's nice to have it quiet when running longer term.

Generator is close to connection, also quiet enough it won't bother us. Our last outage was three days and a short one is typically a few hours. If I'm home I figure I can everything up and running in under ten minutes. If I'm at work under 30.
Our issue is when we lose power, we lose water as we're on a well.

Looking to brighten up the basement a little bit, and paying $150/each for 6 x 2x4 LED flush mount lights isn't my idea of a good time.

If anyone has a decent hookup / recommendation of where to find ceiling lights for a decent price please let me know (or if you have a project that's finished).

Main issue is that the current 2ft long lights are insufficient to lighten up the basement so it's a real pain to see anything. The low ceiling height needs something that spreads light easily so recommendation is 2x4 flush mount LED (similar to below)...but spending close to 1k on lights...hard pass.

Finished or unfinished space?

Unfinished I just install recessed octagon boxes (between joists) and then use a keyless lamp holder and instead of a light bulb I use one of those three or four arm adjustable LED garage lights.

Finished but not fancy space, I usually go with the round flush mount lights with the plastic dome. Often on sale for $10 to $15 each. Integrated LED (which I don't like but for the price), often they also come with adjustable light temperature.

I have replaced the fixtures like you posted with both solutions and both of the above work way better.
