Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Hey guys so while I have some down time during the holidays I've got to replace my toilet seal. I've always used wax, but was thinking to go rubber for this time around.

Thoughts?

I am a wax guy personally, just don't cheap out---get one with the plastic core not just the wax.

The only time I use a rubber one is if I know it will be temporary (like a reno) and I will need to take the toilet in and out.

Like motor oil, you will also get the opposite advise....

I'm with you. Wax with the built in funnel is my standard. I have had the displeasure of removing some old neoprene gaskets. Fully saturated in poo water. Gross. Wax is a sticky mess but doesn't absorb.

To me wax is the gold standard, doesn't decay.

Why do you need to replace your existing wax ring?

I have a leak at the bottom of the toilet. Not much just some seeping. Nothing looks cracked or anything, so I think it must have to do with the seal. I did use a wax seal with the plastic funnelly thing.
