Dealers and Trust

Sounds like my 2007 MDX. Mine even has a bracket bolted to the frame to act as a diverter, but oil still manages to get in there and it's a pain to get it all out. That's why I originally installed a Fumoto drain valve (then switched to Stahlbus).

I used to also use a 2L pop bottle with the top cut off to remove the filter and catch all the oil that comes out of there. Then I found one of these discontinued No Mess Oil Filter Wrenches in the clearance aisle of PA for $3. Can you tell I hate getting oil on me//driveway/garage floor?

Oil Udder seems to be a current alternative, but for $30 USD I'd just use a pop bottle or maybe try a knockoff from Ali Express/Temu for under $10:

You have good taste in vehicles, i own a 2008 MDX. I could probably afford to upgrade it to something fancy, but its the perfect winter beater/commuter for me.

There was a video that was making the rounds yesterday...basically a guy doing motorcycle oil change and then pouring the oil directly into his lawn like the old Popular Mechanics guide (without the gravel in a hole). Directly onto the oil.

Can't find it unfortunately today, but many people posted they will be calling the authorities. It's actually scary how quickly they were able to pinpoint his location to within a block or so from just some items in the video (garbage bins with bar codes, etc).
If you read Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance Robert Persig mentions a few oil changes. These are usually in some parking lot and although he doesn't say it you know he's just pouring it onto the ground some where. That was the 60's we know much better now.

LOL, if anything, the MDX left a bad taste. I guess you haven't seen any of my other posts complaining about it. Probably the worst car I've ever owned. My parents had a 1985 Maserati Biturbo that was more reliable - it only stranded me once and never needed an engine replacement.

It happens I guess, but typically the 07-09 years are solid. I’m at 310 Kms on mine, I would drive to Florida tomorrow with no hesitation.

Mine's a 2007 with 390,000 kms on the body. I was completely shocked when the original engine only made it to 200,000 kms by which time oil consumption went to 1L per 1000 kms with zero compression in one cylinder. Replaced with a used 120,000 km engine from a 2008, which now has 310,000 kms total. First and only time I've ever needed to replace an engine. All of my current cars are somewhere in the 300-400k range on original motors.

What's mildly infuriating is that they removed the video right after you posted it here!
Probably because the sub already doxxed him. Found out his neighbourhood, name, handle, OF handle with questionable content, and basically know exactly who it is, where he lives, what he does, and someone will probably come visit him.

Into the 70's the township that i lived in sprayed PCB laden oil on to the gravel rural roads for dust control.
