Canada Post - Huge losses

Nine years is not a bad window , you have to remember the last time they randomly showed up in neighborhoods and started excavations and pouring concrete with no local consultation or permits . Towns slammed the lid on that. CPC said “ we are a fed regulated company” to which the municipality said unless your a railway quoting the act of eighteen whatever it was , beat it . Canada post quietly withdrew the superbox project with a variety of excuses , not mentioning they had no work permits in place .

I’m pretty sure the Supermailboxes halt was a Justin thing, not CPC.

When Harper’s gov cancelled home delivery in 2013, they planned to convert 5million homes in 5 years, accelerating from 200k a year in 2014 to 2m a year for 2019.

F@“k the consultation, that’s just another good waste of taxpayer money as nimbys force the expense of consultants, lawyers, and countless levels of government departments. Then there’s union forces looking for tools to slow down the process.

Damn the torpedoes - throw the boxes up wherever it’s convenient.

Another thing the supermailboxes do is make it possible to deliver mail using contractors.

I spent the last week the most remote parts of Ontario. No roads, everything comes by plane or monthly barge. Amazon got me a TV, SDS drill, and about 50lbs of food in 3 days. I have Prime, so delivery was free.

So much for nobody but CPC willing to serve remote Canada.

CUPW just exploded. Unions get very angry when they don't get free-reign to extort taxpayers.

EDIT:
I've checked mail once since they stopped flyer delivery. What a welcome relief. Two envelopes and a package from Aliexpress. No need to sort through 200 pages of garbage with two potentially important envelopes mixed in.

I finally put a label in my box "no flyers please"

Technically this will do nothing, you need to call CP and request to be removed from the program; oh man what do they call it....Consumers Choice, i believe. Until then the postie is obligated to keep stuffing your box or they can be disciplined.

Yes, I remember you mentioning that earlier.
So far it has worked.

I will not file any complaints if they are oblige by my sticker or if they do oblige by their job duties. It's an attempt on my part.

At the end of the day it is also "helping" them. With the frequency of how often we visit the mailbox, they were literally STUFFING everything in there. To the point that it was actually hard to rip things back out and finding actually mail was like finding Waldo.

There have been no flyers for weeks. It will be interesting to see the Financials. The typical $10M per day loss is going to be much larger with their primary source of income removed.

Now that the workers are on strike can they just declare bankruptcy and sell the remains to the highest bidder. No legacy costs no union.

Because that's the policy. At some point (if they cared) the postie would notify the supervisor that your box is full. You would then get a call stating that all mail would be suspended to your address until you clear it.

Huh they stopped flyer delivery? I'm still getting them. Well if they can find my mailbox, the last one was left on the veranda...(Dumbazz's)

Yeah, they flipped on overtime ban. Starting working OT again but then stopped flyer delivery. Local guy here was griping, he makes an easy $1,500+/yr extra with his flyers.

What's the end game for the union? CP is broke. They're barely hanging on and require billions annually to stay afloat...

Do they really think they'll just force CP to do what they want? I love how tone deaf, and inept, their leadership is.

Don't forget the union is a business...they need their members making money to collect dues. Job loss is not an option.
