Anyone into gardening here?

Thanks for that. It looks like I have a mission this summer to kill the thing. I’m trying to spend about 20 minutes every day doing weeding in the flower beds and between that and heavy mulching most issues are under control except this one.
I had a bunch get out of my shady garden, I was able to kill is with black garbage bags. Cut the bags to cover the goutweed, pin the plastic to the round and wait 10 days.

Mine was totally gone.

I’ve turned into a big softy. Earlier this season we had a couple of cardinals try to make a nest in our gazebo. They did this last year too. We tried to discourage them as the dogs use the gazebo for shade and we use it for bbqs etc so we moved the nest to a better location as they were building it. After about 10 times of removing the nest and them rebuilding it in the gazebo we gave up and decided that we (the cardinal couple and us) would all get along together.

Fast forward to today and the proud parents have had at least one chick. Except said chick had fallen out the nest while mum and dad were getting food. Got a pair of clean blue vinyl gloves and scooped the helpless thing up and put it back in the nest. Mum and dad arrived a bit later and hopefully all is ok.

I’m a surrogate cardinal dad.
