Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Buddy just bought one of these for Ubering as an income source $40k all in with 7 year roadside assistance and a full spare tire

Chery been around here for a while tho not as prevalent as BYD
Choice is good. He got $5k off as last one dealer had.
Yes, Chinese automaker Chery is officially coming to Canada, with early shipments of their electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) having already arrived for testing and showroom preparations. [1, 2]
Chery is planning an aggressive entry into the market, and here are the key details of their launch: [1]
  • Initial Deployments: Approximately 150 vehicles have already been delivered to Canada to populate showrooms, support dealer training, and undergo Canadian government certifications. [1, 2]
  • Launch Date & Models: Formal retail sales are targeted for late Q3 or Q4 2026. The launch will be spearheaded by Chery's sub-brands, primarily Omoda (such as the Omoda 5 EV) and Jaecoo (such as the Jaecoo E5)
Buddy figures top up to 80% at lunch - 30-40 minutes. He's been researching it for a while

My Bolt had an almost $1000 repair bill today.

Cracked windscreen. I have a high deductible on my insurance, so this was on me. It's been a long time since having a windscreen replaced, so I think I am still ahead of the game by setting the deductible high.

Stuff like this is the same as any other car.
Is the crack bearable or in the line of sight?

If it doesn't affect anything is it prudent to wait until you're selling or trading?

I's a sad state of affairs but pre-trashing your vehicle makes it theft resistant.

Brian, does your Bolt have forward sensors in the windscreen? I had my windscreen replaced, no forward sensors, in February for only $670. Big rock strike got mine.

Since I'm an idiot I was cutting some bolts on a truck bed rack without protecting the rear windshield...guess how much fun it was when I noticed that melted metal hit the back window of my Maverick.

Such an idiot...not looking forward to see how much that replacement will end up costing me.

You might be surprised how cheap it is. I just changed my F’d150 windshield (no sensors), cost me $250 all in from a mobile guy off marketplace.

I use a similar mobile guy. He's done 5 windshields for us and is doing the second chip repair this week (deep stone chips near the wipers out of sight).
He does many of the car dealerships as well and said camera's rarely need to be recalibrated (usually only when the shield is a bear to get out which is about 5% of the time). Dealerships will of course say they need recalibration. He did two of our Honda's equipped with forward cams and neither required recalibration.
