Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Started going through my electrical panel to check where each switch/plug is wired. What a complete dog’s breakfast. There are supposedly two spare circuits on different sides of the bus, and none on the pony panel. Who needs nine split kitchen outlets? We’re thinking of getting a hybrid, but not sure if we can afford a plug in.

Nine split outlets on how many circuits? I have two split circuits and one 20A 120v circuit for counter plugs. I have never blown a kitchen breaker.

I was surprised at the immediate shutdown (they said they lost all power after the hit). I don't know if something important got ripped off or if that was a collision detection shutdown. I was impressed that they didn't get airbagged. That was a hard hit (maybe not enough horizontal acceleration to trigger?). I agree that very few cars would be drivable after jumping over a large piece of steel between the wheels.

It was interesting that the autopilot didn't seem to notice the giant chunk of steel. Probably related to cameras without lidar again.
I'm not particularly following the technology but wonder how the cameras would respond to a picture like this.

Poorly. Someone (maybe mark rober?) tested the opposite of that and put a wiley coyote road on styrofoam blocks. The tesla didn't notice the wall. Soon enough some scammer will paint the back of a truck and go hunting for tesla's to crash into them.

I lied, or typoed. It’s 12 separate 15 amp circuits, so only six split outlets. Three are on the back counter with the stove, one on each side counter, and one on the island. Eight circuits are on a 40 amp pony panel along with the pool stuff, the fridge and an unknown (so far) kitchen light. Some days I think @mimico_polak’s seller must have lived here at some point.
I’m going to make a spreadsheet of what connects to what, and then call a reputable electrician to see what can be done for car charging purposes.
We might have 150 amp service already.

I have never driven an EV but I’m curious on peoples thoughts about EV sports cars. Obviously the acceleration is there but I wonder if the character and driving enjoyment would be as well.
I’ve had a few sports cars and will likely buy another but I wonder if a nicely powered sportscar EV that doesn’t feel like a boat would be a sales hit

High weight and no fun noise makes it not a sports car for me. I want light with a glorious song. Yes, the ev is faster but that's not what I want in a sports car.

Porsche has an EV replacement for the Cayman in the works.

As for the weight issue, that's going to take the next generation of batteries - probably solid-state, or lithium-sulfur, and they're in the works and have been demonstrated, but not in production yet. I saw something floating around in the last couple of days about Ducati having one of their MotoE bikes fitted with prototype solid-state batteries from QuantumScape, but now with MotoE being suspended, so much for that idea.

Character and driving enjoyment - they'll be different, but I'm okay with that.

If you haven't driven an EV of any sort, the low centre of gravity is a big positive factor. GM missed an opportunity with the Bolt to build a GTI competitor, and it would have been easy. If they'd built a Bolt RS with sports seats and better tires and slightly lowered and sportier dampers, and perhaps firm up the steering (all of which would be easy to do at the OEM level), I would have bought one. The drivetrain is good enough. I did the better dampers myself, I already have wider rims on it, and better tires will be going on those rims next spring now that the stock tires are close to being done. (81 000 km on the car)

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is supposed to be quite a car. I just wish it was a size smaller and lighter.

They all feel like boats. Think of a Dodge Challenger, straight line fun but pretty much a write off when it comes to cornering. And then there's the lack of emotion..also, all that GO is a massive battery drain and most of the 'sporty' EVs already have lower range.

That being said you can pick up Plaids for $60kish these days, that's good value for 1000hp.

I believe Porsche announced they just cancelled their EV replacement for their sport coupes.
