After I decided that even doing slow speed maneuvers with the 1980 Moto Guzzi V50 was getting hard to do
it was time to start working on upper body strength.
I am planning a 12 covered bridge tour after the OGR rally in Lavigne on the 2018 V7iii.
There will be about 200km of non-paved roads out of the 1600km ride in the Abitibi-Temiscamingue region.
In my younger days 20s to 50s I was in a gym at least by-daily doing free weight training.
I was competitive as an amateur in the 145.lb class squatting and dead lifting but never got over my body weight in the bench press.
I considered joining a gym that was about 14 kilometres down the road in the next town.
Then I realized that my day would entail getting up, brushing snow off car, shovel driveway and get to the gym in time for the car heater
to start working.
Repeat process on way home.
Spend twice was much on gas as gym membership.
NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!
I found some cheap steel weights, bar and bench on Marketplace and now have my own place in the basement.
The plan is a lot of light weight reps rather than a lot of heavy weight once.
Once I conquer that 50 .lb I will start looking for more weight.
As a power lifter we all made fun of the guys with huge arms and chicken legs.
I do not do machines, bouncing around yelling to loud music or standing on one leg pretending to be a crane.
I take the Neanderthal approach.

Me hurt myself
Me come back next week and show rock who is boss.

How’d you hang it so the whole house doesn’t shake?
I’d like one at my place but don’t want to rock the whole house.
It came with a swinging hook that apparently quiets noise. Kids hit it a couple times while I was above and it didn't seem bad but I could hear it. I paid less for the bag plus hanger than the hanger costs.

Something like this along with using one of those tree saver recovery straps to suspend it.
Works good it isolate the bag when you are thumping.

Interesting comparison. I’ve always walked lots but with the dog it’s more regular as it’s forced, which was part of the reason for Lucy becoming a family member.

Adidas with Continental and Puma with PumaGrip outsole ground contact rubbers are THE BEST in the business, used in their “high” performance shoes (expensive) but totally worth it IMO. I go through 4 pair of running shoes a year, so have a bit of experience….
