Asphalt is not your friend today

Search “kick stand plate” on Amazon. Lots of choices under $15.

True, but it's always best to buy the actual one someone has had good experience with. Most may come from the same factory, but not always, and you can end up with some real garbage. Which is also why you see mixed feedback on apparently the same product - because of the way Amazon consolidates the reviews.

Only problem with those is that it becomes much harder to kickstand spin your bike. My new one comes with this extra large foot and I can't spin it.

Yep - this is the one I got: FXCNC Racing Aluminum CNC Motorcycle Side Stand Plate Kickstand Extension Pad Fit For YZF R1 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006, Kickstands & Jiffy Stands - Amazon Canada

I had to grind down my kickstand foot around the edges to get it to fit inside this plate perfectly. There's others that are more of a universal fit, but I didn't want those ones.
Yes tried Amazon but they don’t fit. The foot on my stand is a triangle where most seem to be made for an oval foot. It is an ok size but still sinks easily into softer ground. Trying to mount bike on right side but I’m old and slow.

I didn't do a deep dive search but something like these ones don't fit?

Or you could pick up one of these the next time you're at a motorcycle show. They are usually handed out free of charge at the shows. I have a few of them that I've acquired over the years and keep a couple on the bike just in case I, or a friend, needs one while out riding. They are lightweight plastic and have no problem supporting my very heavy ST1100.

A tether cord / string comes in handy, so you don't ride away forgetting it.
(They all have a pre made hole for that).

Was thinking of these but I'm fat and old and bending over !?!
Tether cord is a good idea, but I feel it would just be skipping down the road behind me.. LOL

I've left quite a few of those behind when I forgot to pick them up before taking off.

I have a blue Yamaha plate which was using before this bolt on kickstand plate. Even though I'm not fat or old, I don't bend over for nothin, so I had a coiled, hi-viz tether cord with a loop on one end that goes around the handlebar or anything on the left bar. So as I get on the bike, I just straighten the bike up off the kickstand and the cord coils up and brings the plate to my hand, which then get put in the tank bag.

Only reason I moved away from that to a bolt on plate is because I pull over a lot on the gravel shoulders for pics when I ride and this makes it much faster.

I was working at a client site when one of the guys commented about how my 748 was leaned over a lot. I thought he was talking about the natural exaggerated lean so I brushed him off. Then I got outside... The stand had sunk so far in I swore the bike was on its side, but miraculously was still holding it up and preventing the fairing from touching down. I want to commend Ducati engineering for accounting for balancing the bike under those conditions, but I'm sure it's just dumb luck.
Did you take a picture? That would be something.

I was going to ask about those scratches on the front of your helmet, but now I know the answer.

nm... 😁
