Pickup Trucks

We recently looked at the Maverick. Was considering a lease as I wouldn't want to be stuck with one when the warranty expires. Interest rates were offensive, so we'll wait.
It is a nice little vehicle, as stated by @mimico_polak the interior is lacking.
Lacking, that's a nice way to put it. Lol

All I needed to see was under the hood.
This Maverick (hybrid) mess looks like kindergarten kids slapped some parts together.

Compare it to a Ridgeline........and, consider how the rest of the Maverick is built (in comparison).

So you value the plastic cover on top? Pull the cover off and it won't look much different.

Look at the electrical on the Ford. The tape. The routing. Etc.
It's technical vomit.
As is the remainder of a Maverick (and the ford lineup).
MP has parts falling off his.
I spent my working years building their junk in Oakville.
Enough said.
I'll buy another Honda.

I agree. I like the truck overall, and I'm ok with the interior rattles and creaks annoying as they are.

My Odyssey is still driving great at 163,000kms and after 3k of worth this year...I'm hoping that's the last of it.

But no parts have fallen off, no major issues (knock on wood) to date, and I'm hoping to be replacing it with another Honda in about a year's time.

Need to pay off Maverick for now, and if it comes time to replace...I'd buy one again. Simply because for the price, it does everything I need it to do.

The Ridgeline would be awesome, but it's wildly more expensive.

Hell I'd even consider a Ranger / Colorado as I'm liking the pickup truck life.

Or if I could ever justify it...an F150 Lightning.

At least make it apples to apples. Our Odyssey has the identical engine bay. No turbo's, no hybrid system, and big plastic covers so you can't get at anything until you remove them (annoying).
My 24 F150 engine bay has no covers, two turbos, and clean wiring. Easy to access everything.
The Odyssey (and your Ridgeline) make you pay to replace the timing belt every 120,000km per maintenance at a cost of a few thousand dollars (not covered on warranty) and sparkplugs are $$40 each.
$8 sparkplugs on the F150 and nothing to replace per maintenance in the engine bay.

Coles notes: Every hybrid engine bay looks a mess without the covers.

Huh?
Small pickup vrs small pickup = apples to apples, doesn't it?

Give that f150 a minute, you'll need the "easy access".
My 2010 f150 leaked like a sieve. But the leak couldn't be found. I bought that turd new, and it rolled 30,000kms on the way to trading it in.
The countless resistors baking in the heating system, and the smell of "wet dog", was enough for me. It was a champ hauling a trailer though.

If removing simple plugs........very similar to m/c fairing plugs is that annoying, maybe puplic transit is the answer?

A quick search shows a 6 pack of OEM / NGK spark plugs is <$35 on amzn for a Ridgeline.

He was arguing that comparing a hybrid to a straight ICE drivetrain and then complaining about complexity was not great. Here's the non-hybrid maverick. Still no plastic cover hiding everything but if one was installed, it would look similar to the honda.

'Buddy's '21 F150.. 92000km
'Making some weird noises..
Just got a repair estimate.... $12708
Transfer case, wheel bearings, 4x4 actuators and overhaul rear diff.

Damn truck isn't even used for "truck stuff"... No towing. No heavy loads...

Geez... 'Think I might expand my search for a new truck to include some other brands... LoL

Was that dealer price? I would be looking for a good independent shop.

There are many vehicles out there that should only be owned or leased while they are on warranty.

There are pros and cons to leasing, but at least you know that your cost of ownership is defined and potential losses nil or limited. IMO the "Big Three" pickup trucks have poor build quality and overall poor reliability and fit the lease model well.

I’m sixty thousand k into my Tacoma half a truck . I really miss my f one fifty. and will likely be back in one in about a yr . I don’t need heavy pulling anymore, but my twenty twenty one v six was best truck I’ve owned . I’ve owned a lot of trucks .

Yeah... I think i might start looking at Toyota for my next truck...

My 2010 4.6 litre F150 4x4 went 388000km with no major failures...
'Had it not been crushed on the 401 by a semi.. I'd probably still be driving it Lol
Not sure they are better seem to have just as many or more issues. My current 2014 GMC has 200000 and hasn't had any issues at all bought it new also 2wd no turbo. Also have a 2019 at work with 200000 on it 4wd and it hasn't had any repairs yet other than brake pads at 130000.

My buddy’s work buys new Tundras and their engines like to grenade.

50-60k on the odo and the engine decided to suicide itself.

Warranty sure. But a 3 month wait for a new motor on a truck that’s supposed to bring X dollars per day is not a fun time.
