So the forty two Chris Craft project is over . The engines turn and fire , transmissions tranmit, props go round. Then reality sets in , in water costs are just under 10g a yr . Upholstery estimate was 15k , all electrical needs pulled out , 10k , all electronics are shot, 10k . Interior refit about 25k , exterior refresh 10k . And this is no labour , just materials and bare bones guesses .For a floating liability. And wife did mention we have a couple boats now . My passion for boats probably explains why she bought that house in the desert a couple yrs ago .

I was given some really good advice years ago regarding long term projects.

Divide a piece of paper down the middle.

On the left-hand side write down what you want to accomplish in life.

Then on the right-hand side write down how old you, your wife and kids will be when you hit your goals.

Decide accordingly.

Sometimes the salvage value is worth more. I'd uthanize the boat and let its parts live on as donors. Bring a chainsaw, cut out those 540s+velvets and put them up on BAT.

You'll get about the same $$$ as if you listed a kidney.
