Feds plan to melt ICE

I only hope people understand that when the world finnaly reaches 100% EV adoption, EVs will be rendered obsolete by something better.

Nope. Hydrogen is a complete loser right out of the gate and only good for lighting money on fire in the quest to be different. I don't see fission powered vehicles taking over in the next few decades. Like it or not our viable choices are ICE, battery(possibly super capacitor at some point but from a user perspective, that is almost the same) or a combination of the two.

In the 40s lasers where only found in comic books.
In the 60s lasers where known as the solution to the problem that does not exist.
In the 90s history proved that wrong.
People will still be able to buy ICE cars untill 2035
With a life expectancy of a car being at least 20 years we are still looking a long wayy into the future.
When I look back at the advances in the last 35 years it is astonishing how far we have come compared to 35 years of my fathers life.
If you want to save the planet charge a license fee for ICE vehicles based on HP to GVW.

The heavier the vehicle, the cheaper your license fee? That seems like it wouldn't achieve the desired effect. HP is also almost impossible for government to tie down. Many modern vehicles can double hp while still remaining emissions compliant and on a quick inspection unmodified. You can easily turn the power down if the government went as far as requiring a dyno test.

Think Dieselgate.

That's a typical rubbish clickbait article. It fails to mention that this action is consistent with much of the rest of the world. And that action is being taken because climate change due to human-caused CO2 emissions is a real thing.

National Post is owned by Postmedia. They're right-leaning.
Some blatant partisan attacks and some thoughtful points. Everybody else is doing it? Really? Action is being taken, but is it the right action in the right timeline? Do we take the time to thoughtfully respond, or do we jump into action like chickens with their heads cut off? The just stop oil people are just as wrong as the don't do anything people. I can post the article from years ago announcing the same phase out. There doesn't seem to have been much planning done in the meantime. Anyway, heres the rubbish clickbait article from the CBC owned by the Canadian government. They're left-leaning.

I'm looking forward to the photo-op where Chief stupid is on a reserve announcing their new charging stations fully funded by tax dollars. With any luck a camera operator with stones will pan over to the diesel generator pounding away at the other end of the figurative extension cord.

As posted by @WestBrantKid climate change caused by humans doesn’t exist.

I don’t believe it. I believe we are the major source of accelerating global warming.

But there is a huge group that refuse to believe it for whatever reasons.

No different than COVID, magical beings in the sky, and a plethora of other issues that plague our world.

You thinking that they actually would print them is the puzzling part.
With email it was easy to include all the papers in the media blast. They WERE printed in a bunch of local and national papers.

Agreed.

. Yet nothing screams “Laurentian elite looking out for their own at the expense of everyone else” quite like the recent press conference announcing the government’s new Electric Vehicle Availability Standard.

Or maybe put another way the west saying "at the expense of everyone else and the climate eff you baby it's drill drill drill"
If you can't at least provide a hint of non partisanship I move on.

What was your gripe about with Harper
There were many. It started because he promised transparency then gagged public workers and refused talking to the media. He tried to gerrymander elections with his voting rights bill that made it harder for First nations to vote, the resistance to gay marriage and the "old stock Canadian" shite. I can on, how long do you have?

And EVERYTHING you see on Fox News is the truth...
So... It's wrong because it's on Fox? This is a meaningless argement. It's like when someone says, "Did you get your degree at YouTube University? Haw Haw!"
If you can't argue the information, argue the source?
