So vastly slower bikes are a hazard on the track? not a race mind you, but even on a green or yellow group?

Slower on the straight, possibly, faster through the corners. Huge closing speeds is more dangerous than everybody going similar speed. Gives less reaction time and a bigger hit if they touch.

Rider skill makes more of a difference than bike displacement.

One of the fastest guys in red group at Calabogie was on a 125 two-smoke. Obviously he'd get swallowed up at the end of the straightaway, but only after embarrassing all the liter+ guys in the corner. His laptimes were on par with guys on bigger bikes.

On the other hand, you get a guy on a 200+ hp Superbike blasting down the straightaway and then braking waaay early and tip-toeing through the corners, now *that's* more of a hazard since everyone else is expecting a certain corner speed and then has to check up because there's some guy on a Panigale is parked on the racing line right in the middle of the turn.

But that's the kind of sh!tshow you see in Yellow group. 🤷‍♂️

I think the risk is overstated by some trackday orgs. The main risk that I see is on the long straights, when two or three guys on fast bikes are tucked in close behind each other trying to draft for a pass. Your view ahead is blocked when you're that close to another bike, so if/when one of those guys pops out to make the pass they can suddenly find a much slower bike in their way that had been previously hidden by the bikes in front. The solution for this is simple - don't draft other bikes, at least not in green or yellow group. It's literally not a race, so there's no need to be drafting people to make passes.

Drafting or following very closely is kind of a bad idea even if the bikes are all the same speed/power. You're trusting a stranger to not brake way earlier than you expect, to not accidentally miss a gear when accelerating, to not freak out if a rabbit runs across the track, and to not decide that they've had enough for the day and just sit up and slow down without warning. Add 3 or 4 or 5 riders in a tight bunch and you multiply the chances of a clusterduck.

very decent price and easily runs 120 kph indicated all day with some left. I bought my 2015 F for $2800 and that was $1000 under market. And real life 70 mpg mileage. 4,000 km ...someone is losing a chunk of change.
Looks like it's $1,000 under market in Ontario too.
