We are doing both the North road and the Trans Tiaga.We have never done that before so it will be new to us.The logistics are a bit different as we will have to carry 20litres of fuel for the TT as after the Mirage the fuel supply is unknown since Air Sagenay closed.

So are you doing the last 80km stretch past the dam? Bragging rights for getting to the bitter end?
North Rd was a great ride. The gravel when we did it was much better there than the TT.
I assume you're all starting with fresh rubber. 3 of us were on kenda 270s which preformed very well. A fourth buddy had shinkos that were more street oriented and he struggled more (we all struggled a bit as the gravel built up in the corners quite deep).
Definately get tires that have more dirt bias. You won't regret it once you're on the TT.

I ended up with Michelin Ankee Adventure instead of the Wilds due to a communication error.I think the Adventures will be fine as I was really concerned about the durability of the Wilds with all the pavement that we will be doing especially with the weight of my loaded bike including my bulk!lol

just googled your choice. I think they may be a little more street biased than I would want for that ride. in a lots of places for a lot of miles the gravel was thick - stacked marbles kind of deal. I would much rather come home on a slightly balding dirt tire than try to ride that again on a street bias tire that made it home intact. at the very least a more aggressive front tire would help. (the cheap kenda 270s work good and would last that ride easy). your ride your call.

I am going to stick with the Adventures rather than going with a more Dirt oriented setup.I will not be that aggressive on the dirt and if I was I would bring a more dirt oriented bike in the truck for those roads.There is still 3800 kms of good paved roads to rail on on this trip.
I don't think it's a matter of being aggressive on the dirt but rather a more aggressive tire will make the gravel easier. At least that's what we found. Either way should be a good trip.
I thought you guys had a chase trailer @BMW Rider so what’s the point of carrying additional fuel if there’s someone chasing you with a full shop?

The day we go to the end Of the Trans Tiaga the truck will be staying at the Mirage so to be able to do that leg and back we will need the additional fuel on the bikes.At this point only the truck is coming with no trailer.We always decided to set the bikes up to be automatous incase the truck had issues.
According to our sources fuel is sporadic at the far end since Air Sagaguey closed in 2019
Yes on the way up.I just checked mileage and it is closer to 1800 kms on the gravel.

I figure that we will probably split into 2 groups as I totally agree with you on trying to ride with large groups.We have a well mapped itinerary so everybody knows where there going.The main thing for us is being a group for dinner and bar time.We used to do this on our big sled trips and it worked out well.

Forecasting up there is a real and miss thing.The last time we went the forecast was virtually the same and we only got about 3 hours of rain in 5 days.We do expect to get wet on Friday and part of Saturday.We are prepared.
