I just want to be back in the classroom with my little munchkins...no masks, no nothing...all the teachers and staff should be fully vaccinated and kids under 12 (so basically grade 7 and under) aren't eligible anyways, so if you as an adult choose not to get vaccinated, it's a chance you take...online learning sucks big time...the kids are tuning out (normal for June, but even more so after being stuck on a computer since April 19) and teachers/staff are exhausted...I miss seeing their smiling faces and actually being able to hug them (yes, I'm one of those teachers that still hugs their students and believe it or not, I've had many a parent hug me as well)...cut all this crap out and let's get back to normal...sooner rather than later please and thank you...
 
From Coronavirus (COVID-19) Vaccinations - Statistics and Research

Canada has pulled essentially level with Israel in terms of "at least one dose". The rate of increase has tapered off a little as the rate of second doses increases, and that isn't surprising. In the last day we added 0.43% of the population with the first dose, and 0.63% of the population with the second.
 
All my buddies started looking for flights to Europe as soon as the announcement was made. They plan on flying and getting their shots there. Shouldn’t be a problem because he vaccines are the same brands, and they’re planning on going for a few weeks to a month anyway.

Let’s see how fast the airlines get their fleets up and running. Poland went from something like 5-8 flights per week down to 1…so prices apparently are nuts and they’re selling like hot cakes.

I just realized how much I missed my 6am HD visits…might have to go tomorrow for some Father’s Day deals.

I don’t think anyone was talking about freedoms when it came to the masks. That was more of lockdowns.

What i mostly seen was people saying the masks didn’t work and was uncomfortable wearing it.

I would really like to get a haircut.

Are you saying MIT didn't do research on this subject? And leaning to the right don't make it wrong.

As far as any kind of media bias fact checking, Well thats been off the table for me for more than a yr or so now. Ever since the big tech has proving to lean so far left and squash anything that don't fit the narrative they are choosing to run with

Yes…but the paper doesn’t really say what anti-maskers and anti-vaxers think it says. It’s also a pre-print (not accepted or peer reviewed yet) and it’s also in the social sciences which have a bit of an issue with reproduceability. It basically says that given the same data set the two sides draw radically different viewpoints. The anti bunch draw unorthodox conclusions.

They are still batshit crazy!

Things aren’t going to be normal for a while. I won’t go into details but even with the advances in the vaccination schedule that we have had I’m still not in my office properly until December. Some decisions external to me need to be made with scheduling in mind with whatever latest information is available and then those schedules are complex enough that walking them back isn’t feasible in a short timescale. I can’t be the only one in this kind of situation either.

I find it interesting that more and more universities are piling in to say that you need to be vaccinated if you live in residence but so far, I haven't seen any comments about classes. I would assume that if they are putting some restrictions on gathering in residence they will also be planning on some restrictions on classes but have chosen not to publicly release their plans yet (or nobody wants to be the first to say there will be ongoing restrictions).
 
I've been very lucky to have been able to work through this whole thing, Except for a couple of months last yr, Which i didn't mind at all

One big issue is with room size, social distancing and capacity and scheduling. It’s a massive jigsaw with thousands of pieces and if it doesn’t fit together properly it’s a big mess.

In the interest of easing scheduling, i wouldn't be surprised if some schools ran classes like summer school (one three hour class per week per class). Possibly assign students to multiple rooms. One room gets the prof, the others watch on a screen. Prof rotates (or students rotate) around so you see the prof a few times a semester.

One issue with that…tuition. It automatically changes a mindset, rightly or wrongly, into one of a customer.
