The colon cancer check kit that your doctor supplies you with to do a sample collection with, has been changed.
WARNING! The new kit comes with a supposedly flushable device that isn't.
No other details necessary. Grrrrr!

Ugh don’t remind me. Past 40 now so apparently I need to go for the ‘finger’ test soon....

The new material it's made out of wouldn't happen to be carrots?

It's my anniversary. Three years today, they removed 80% of my colon.
Don't put that **** off people.
A friend didn't believe in going to doctors. Then one day he fainted and didn't have a choice. He ended up under the knife and was lucky. Other than not being able to play the waiting game for long, he's OK ten years later.

I just dropped off my new style test the other day and got routine blood work done. Blood work was OK and hopefully the same for the FIT test.

The new test is a one sample deal with no diet restrictions. The Popsicle stick one was a three day system with a short list of restrictions. The new one is more convenient but I think the old one may have had the advantage of multiple readings.

OR, you can pay $37 and have it done by blood test....

IIRC the threshold for the examination was raised to 50...
Of course if you're into it I supposed if you asked nicely your Dr. would oblige.

I think you're correct. Canadian military wants their employees to get it done from 40. A friend of a friend went for the probing at 40 and it was too late. Stage 4 and gone. He was asymptomatic, no family history, probed earlier than most just got the short straw. Two kids in high school. Home school isolation plus loss of father is really hard for the younger one.

I hear that now if you are doing the "test", the fee for getting the anesthesia is payable by you, courtesy of Douggie.
True/False?

I don't think they ever followed through with that one.

I’ve had cancer before so apparently should do it earlier.

I get the fickle finger every year with my annual medical. If you're getting a PSA prostate blood test the finger will sometimes up the reading. So will getting riding a bicycle or getting naughty.

There are different cancers. Some move slowly and some are fast.

The body often adapts and systems are "Ah I'm just getting old" and then the hammer drops. One doesn't need to become a hypochondriac but my brother ignored signs, attributing them to a car crash a few years earlier. When he started slurring his words he went for a check out and found that he had stage four lung cancer. He rarely smoked, a cigar a couple of times year. He lasted a month as it had gone to the brain. Mess with the brain and it stops controlling the other organs that keep you alive.

Did I miss a point? A basic digital prostate exam just requires a rubber glove and dab of lube. I had a colonoscopy a number of years ago and other than it being very uncomfortable I don't recall any anesthetics.

A relative of a buddy has had two colonoscopys and for both he was put under.
(I know, 'cos I picked him up as a favor to buddy).
Then earlier last year I heard that one of Douggie's cut backs meant that the anesthetic for the colonoscopy will be a "patient pays" service. I haven't done a 'scopy and am hoping that this nickle-and-dime cut back to health services is not in effect.
