Don’t disagree...but I liked it for what it was trying to do.
It did break some barriers and tackled some difficult subject matter.

Lol - I said the same thong about the Indian Jones episode.

Uneven pretty much sums it up.

Maybe I’m just happy for any distraction that remotely checks the boxes these days. ;)

Have you seen Watchmen? Hard social commentary successfully woven seamlessly into an existing mythos. Thematically focused and narratively tight. Very well done series.

No...will check it out.
Watching the Korean Kumiho episode right now.

So uneven.

First episode was great. But then it went downhill from there. It didn't know where it wanted to go or what kind of show it wanted to be. Anthology? Indiana Jones episode was WTF? Characters are introduced and then killed off within an episode. Characters with no backstory are suddenly given episodes like we should care about them (Dee's mom). Characters that aren't even mentioned are given emotional weight (when Dee's friend got killed and everyone was sad - who the eff was this kid, he wasn't even mentioned!)

I really wanted to like the series. But it was written so poorly and the narrative editing was confusing.

The Korean Kumiho episode was the best though. Very good standalone episode. Also the body-switching episode was good too - good social commentary on race and gender.

It could have been so good.
Killing characters off is pretty much the heart of Lovcraftian fiction. In most of Lovecraft's stories the protagonist dies. They never make it out unscathed. Even in the story that he co-wrote with Harry Houdini, Houdini went temporarily insane.

Except that Lovecraft Country and the book that it's based on have little do with HP Lovecraft.

And it wasn't the protagonist that died. One of the protagonists killed off a character that the entire episode built up as being important to the plot. It was nonsensical.

Just finished episode 8. I’ve gone this far, have to finish the whole series now. Two more to go, but it’s hard slogging. All over the place.

I did say that, "Killing characters off is pretty much the heart of Lovcraftian fiction." ;)

Another vote for The Queen's Gambit (y) (y)

BTW some parts of this series was shot in Ontario, the one scene with the car crash, I am sure, was the bridge on Meadowvale north

Watched: The Plot against America - was ok.

Finally getting around to watching Manifest, now I understand the interest in this show. Kinda reminds me of Sense8.

Appa made a cameo!!!

Also is disney+ worth it?
It really depends.
We subscribed to it for several reasons - we have an 8 year old daughter - so lots of content there for kids.
Turns out that she loves Star Wars, so she & daddy watched all 9 of the Skywalker Saga together and we're now watching The Madalorian.
I've caught up on some of the Marvel movies that I missed.
Not a ton of new material like Prime, NetFlix or Crave - but for catching up on stuff - it was worth it.

Okay, I just binged all four seasons of Kim's Convenience.

Am I the only person from Toronto not to have watched this?

So funny! But for the first time in almost a decade I am homesick for Toronto.

So weird not to hear him end with "O-K, see you!".

Nope I've never watched the show, actually had no idea what the fuss was about with Mandalorian ?‍♂️
I don't watch any Canadian produced shows, they have the weird airy unfinished feel to them.

Damn son, you missing out!
I might not have written exactly what I meant, I've seen the Mandalorian, it is ok has it's moments, just didn't understand the fuss about the actor making a cameo. But now I get it. :sneaky:
