Winter stretch

challenger 12s are about $112ish at Hummasons , winchester AA about $128. 20's are the same i think. Right now with the cost of powder and primers way up , reloading only makes sense if your doing 28s or 410 for shotshells . Unless your a really competive shooter and you want xxx ft per second and x only 8 1/2 shot . Challengers are so crappy a hull you cant really reload them with any sort of crimp.
I'm horrible enough with 20g , 410s for me would be torture hitting anything .

Weird.
9mm is a pretty simple round to load.
As long as your OAL is good considering the ogive of the projectile you're using...
Maybe your dies where out of spec?

More likely something I was doing wrong. Cases were fine, and even tried roll-sizing at one point. Could've been the propellant choice, but didn't have the patience to keep trying since the range was 2 hours away from my place.

Yeah...
'was recently thrilled to find crappy Challengers for $112...
At least they're made in Canada... elbows up!

Eek, maybe I should look into a press when I get back into trap.

Hummasons in Ancaster at one point was $55 tax in! At that point I put my shell reloader in the garage rafters. i pulled it down when a flat hit $125 +tx
Never tried Hummasons, went to Lawry's - sounds like with the components going up it's not worth it still.

Shot shells are one thing, but man...
Pre covid I paid $26 for 1000 cci pistol primers...
Nowa days... $125-$135 per thousand

Good God that's insane, was it election-era panic buying hikes, and they never came back down, or just a steady increase over time?

so much powder and primer production (cheddite?) was going overseas from what I'm told. Couple small wars and the supply gets tight.

It sure as ef wasn't gradual...Lol.
Who knows...?
'Probably a variety of factors including what crank' mentioned.
Supply chain, commodity prices, war... All conspiring against Gaoler and his ability to load ammo for his recreational recreation.

I guess it's back to .22 LR.

Actually....
I've been shooting a lot of rimfire lately.
IPSC "mini rifle" has taken off a bit.
Many of the pistol matches are offering up a mini rifle division... There'll prolly be some stand alone mini rifle matches moving fwd.
There's also precision rimfire...
And of course. The best rimfire shootin'...
Saskatchewan gophers !!!
