Toronto Cop James Forcillo may have been on steroids

No, Sonny would punish him for doing the wrong thing. :)

Ok, lets reel this back in.

I think this is the site the silly reporter was quoting: http://reocities.com/Colosseum/hoop/6793/bio.html

Its an old P.O.S site done when the guy was a senior in high school. I don't think over a decade ago is considered "recent". The claims that he worked out for 2 years and gained 80lbs of muscle while staying at 12% bodyfat are nonsense. Why?? Because those claims were written by James and his buddy who at the time were a couple of high school kids. Put it all in context and remember its written by high school kids in the late 90's/early 2000s. High school meatheads have a lot of ego and I am they are embelishing quite a bit here. Broscience was incredibly strong in that era as well..

Thanks - couldn't be bothered 'fighting' with SONIC over basic reading comprehension.

Your 1st example is American, not relevant.

Your 2nd example is about the TTC approving PLANS to implement alcohol and drug testing, but nothing about ACTUAL implementation. Here's a document I found online;

http://www.ttc.ca/About_the_TTC/Com...upplementary_Reports/Fitness_For_Duty_Pol.pdf

The final paragraph in the above document reads;

The Commission’s approval to proceed with the implementation of random alcohol and
drug testing for designated positions is being sought. TTC staff will work with experts and
legal counsel to devise a process that aligns itself as closely as possible with existing case
law as well as explore updated procedures. Once the research is conducted and a clear,
efficient, and cost effective process is designed, and once an effective communication and
training strategy has been devised, the TTC will implement changes accordingly.

Doing a Google search finds no hits newer than the week following the above announcement (Oct 19th, 2011) so I'm thinking that it's still not in place.

Your 3rd example is about 2 cases supporting the testing, not of it actually being able to be conducted and goes further to start describing the hurdles that are preventing it.

steroids or no steroids, he obviously is a bigger guy who has some strength, yet was unable to take a knife from a skinny teenager

Interestingly nothing much would have come of this case if it had not been videoed by a bystander. Shooting the guy 10 times does not make any sense. If he had to shoot, why not just once in the leg or arm?

No need to exaggerate for effect (9 times, not all hits) and the Hollywood angle has been discussed ad nauseum.

Because you would have walked on the street car and disarmed the skinny teenager in seconds right? Sorry but that's not how police are trained and for good reason.

You do not know what I would have done... trained or not .... if it was me then yes I would have tried to disarm him, but I do not have a cops mentality.

Lol just take him out on a date already.

Anyway, article is a bunch of bull. Big deal... 2 high school idiots think one of them gained 80lbs of pure muscle in 2 yrs.

I once worked with a guy who admitted he did juice to bulk. Dude told me one of the the side effects was his shortened temper, said if anyone just looked at him the wrong way at the bus stop he'd feel like starting a fight.

Just thought I'd quickly chime in.

While random workplace drug testing in Canada has been deemed illegal by the courts it does not mean that there can't be drug testing in the workplace. The key word is "random".

If someone works in a safety critical position which means a zero tolerance policy for drugs and alchohol. And zero means absolutely zero amounts in your system, blow over by even a single decimal point or test positive for anything and you're done, immediate dismissal.

How can you be caught if there is no random testing you might ask?

Well in one of 3 ways. First of all as someone in a safety critical position the government mandates that you must be in possession of a fitness to work certificate which includes undergoing a full medical at a every 3 years to 5 years depending on your age and if you have any underlying medical condition that could pose a risk. This medical includes drug test.

Second way is if you're involved in any incident or accident, screw up and that gives the company immediate grounds for a drug and alcohol test.

Third is based on probable grounds, and this is more or less the closest to random testing, and how it works is you walk in and a supervisor or manager observes you and you seem to be staggering a little, your eyes are red or glassy, he engages you in a conversation and notices your speech is slurred. Guess what this in itself does not allow him to test you, however he can go get a second supervisor or manager and the second person will now make his own assessment and if also believes you may be impaired that now gives the company grounds to test you. This is done to prevent abuse of power by a single individual that may be power tripping and has a bone to pick with you.

Anyhow, the above apply to anyone working a safety critical or safety sensitive position, however the company still has to ensure that they have a clearly spelled out d&a policy and that the employee reads and understands said policy.

I'm not here to debate whether said cop above should have been tested or even if the roids played a role, not here to discuss his innocence or guilt, that's for the courts to decide. I'm just trying to shine some light on the testing issue itself. Could he have been tested? well yes, provided Police Officer is a safety Critical job (not sure if they fall under said category although I would imagine it would) and second that the TPS has a zero tolerance policy and that it is clearly spelled out and understood by the employees.

Also, I only have experience with safety critical jobs and that's only thing the above apply to, I don't know if the probable grounds and incident testing could be applied legally to non safety critical jobs like a desk jockey at a downtown bank for example. (nothing against bankers btw)

Cheers!

I hope the guy goes to jail, but the Toronto Star is stretching it a bit in there. They sound like Fox news, make a completely false and irrelevant statement but put the question mark at the end instead of an exclamation, so they imply something false without getting in trouble. Piss *** poor journalism

OilCreek and Soony should get a room

Since I had not posted on this thread yet, that statement is accurate, but now that I have, you just quoted me, contradicting your own statement.

Don't you have some old lady that left the stove on type of emergency to attend to? ;)
