I went to the Stoney Creek office to confirm the online quote.
It wasn't exact, because the online thing doesn't use a vin.
With my subtle additions etc, it worked out to ~$100 more than the quote, so I bought it, and saved $400, and got better coverage, lower deductibles than current provider (who has delivered awesome service).

It's now down to $3500, so I thought, what the heck, let's take a look at the insurance rates...

$2,161/yr.

It's almost 2.5x more expensive than my 2017 Triumph Bonneville T120 lol

The bike might be reasonably priced... but apparently owning it isn't.

Update: He told me to just change my car, truck, trailer, and all my other bikes over to State Farm and then I could get a better rate....

Funny I'm on the GTA Riders FB group and a lot of these guys are happy as pigs in a trough to pay $150-300/month for insurance on some bikes. And then they get encouraged that it's a good financial decision...

My limit is $100/month for a toy to insure...any more than that and I don't have the time currently to ride enough to justify it.

CB500X - $65/month
Ducati Scrambler - $73/month
Ducati Monster 821 - $150/month (hence why I didn't buy it)
VSTROM650 - $55-60/month (from what I recall)

The VFR1200 is a beautiful bike...but the VFR800 is a much nicer bike IMO.

Pretty sure I was blocked from that group for disagreeing with the majority there.

Then around May/June I was dropping off or picking up a bike from a shop, I think Cyclewerx but I can't remember (concussion life), and this guy sees the setup I have with my truck. He comes over, introduces himself, asks me some questions, then tells me he has a big facebook group (pretty sure it was GTA Riders) and he will recommend me to everyone. Says I should join his page. It has lots of people from all over the GTA.

I just said, "Oh, no thanks." or something like that, and it looked like it took the wind out of his sails lol.

I don't like people. Go away lol.

Next time ask them to quote you both as a new policy that they can add to your account, and as an addition to a policy already on your account (their 'default' setting, I think).

I noticed that when they did whatever their default was, the rate was higher... but when they added a new policy, to my existing account, instead of adding a new motorcycle to an existing policy, it saved me some money, and I got the cheaper, online rate.

I wrote a thread about it before my concussion so this will probably explain it better than I am now: DO NOT automatically renew, DO start a new policy with the same company

Sounds about right. It's an echo chamber and anyone that tries to put in some type of sanity...gets pretty quickly called names / ridiculed for not promoting riding dirty / not hiding plate.

It's a little faded now, but this has been my "Welcome" mat at my front door for over a decade now:



I also have a Do Not Disturb sticker on my front door. It's really, really, important to me that people understand how unwelcome they are in my home.

Fun fact: For like 7 years now at my current home, the Conservative and NDP canvassers have always come to the front door, seen the door mat, seen the sign, and quietly left a flyer by the door and left. Without fail, every election, the Liberal party canvassers always completely ignore the sign and door mat and knock anyway. I walk the finest line I can to not being abusive, sometimes walking after the candidate down my steps and down my driveway, continuing to give them **** about how them knocking is such a great example of how their party only wants to put their own benefits first and couldn't care less about respecting the wishes of Canadians. I have been as hostile as possible without breaking any laws. But every election these cock suckers from this party and only this party just keep on coming.
