The "Official" Watch Thread and all Things Horological

Thanks.

Or not. ;)
Ha! Tell me about it. One tip: make sure to sort by 'New' rather than popular. Some of the nicely priced stuff sells fast, like within an hour, so you want to make sure to see the freshest posts...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder…

I love the bowing and scraping to the zillionaire language, like how the little claymation model of the rich c*nt in the middle 'symbolised stewardship and responsibility' for a dude with a private zoo accused of mistreatment of animals.

Yes, nothing screams charity and wildlife concern like a 1.5 mill gaudy bit of tat.

Holy crap that thing is ugly.

Watch looks good. Thanks @Priller

Imagine my surprise when it didn’t start and I was looking for a battery…..

🤦🏻‍♂️
That one winds, so no need to do the Seiko Shake (unlike the Sellita SW-200, which can self-destruct if you hand wind, any owners be warned). If I recall, it keeps excellent time for an auto, too, only picks up about 3 seconds/day, which is COSC territory.

Lools great, though you may find it more comfortable worn just above the wrist bone, depending on preference. I realised I never showed you how to adjust the mesh strap, but clearly you figured it out.

Hope it serves you well, and it was a pleasure to meet you. Maybe next time with motorcycles and when it's not -20 outside...

I have one of those. Interesting idea poorly executed. Mine has been dead for a long time.

The capacitors were superseded with rechargeable batteries (xx920x) w. the tabs soldered on to them years ago. Easy enough (relatively) to replace and you don't need to worry about accidentally shorting them out ☠️. Soma in Brampton sells all the different sizes + tab variations.

Post up the model. I'm one of the odd loons that likes them.

I like yours better. 5m43-0a99.

Just found out there’s a watch thread here but that it hasn’t been revisited for a few years.

To tie this back to motorcycling, here’s a PSA for fans of high end watches:

Be careful riding with *fine* (meaning expensive Swiss made) watches.

Those intricate workings are vulnerable to vibrations and if you’re wanting to do long miles on a jittery bike or doing any kind of sustained off-pavement riding beware that you can shake your watch to the point of breaking apart the movement, hands, dials, etc. Especially if it’s a chronograph.

Leave the Omegas and Breitlings at home and strap on a cheap digital.

I’ve been using a $30 Timex for a decade for all riding and other various water and overland wilderness adventures. It’s beat all to hell now but just won’t stop working. Plus it’s backlit which is always desirable
