Depart: I'm leaving my place in Mississauga (Winston Churchill / 403) around 5am. If you live close to me or further west, you're more than welcome to meet up at my place, otherwise we can meet up at a spots along the route, depending on who lives where.

Meeting Spots:
6:15am @ Bowmanville Petro Pass: Bowmanville Petro Pass
7:30am @ Campbellford Esso Campbellford Esso

Breaks/Gas: No sit down lunch - just bring snacks and drinks for yourself. I'll have a tail bag that can fit a few items if someone needs it. We'll plan to stop every 200km or so for gas w/ quick breaks and add in a few extra stops when we need a rest and recharge. I think the longest stop between gas stations right now is around 215km.

Route: Image is below. If you want the GPX file it's attached. I'll have some Google Maps routes posted soon too.

Most important: there's no pressure to finish this ride (and that includes me). If you are tired or not focused at any point in time and need to stop or split off, no problem at all.

Right now the summer solstice falls on Saturday June 21, but normally I try to do a ride like this on a weekday when there's less traffic on the cottage country roads. So currently thinking about doing this on the Friday June 20th.

I'm coming from Mississauga and usually start this around 5:15am (just before sunrise) and finish up around 10pm (just after sunset). So it's around 1350km and 17hrs long.

Once I know who's up for this, then I'll change the first post with all the details.

If too many people are interested, then maybe we break up into two groups going in opposite directions and meet in the middle of the route for lunch - maybe in Barry's Bay. Ideally a max of 6 riders in any group.

I might be game, I'm a big fan of big mile days. Are you going counterclockwise as the waypoints suggest I presume? I'd meet up at waypoint 2 and fall in at the back of the group. Would also tap out around Coldwater on the way back to head down through Orillia and back home.

What's with waypoint 29 out of curiosity?
 
*might* have time for lunch?? As opposed to doing a 1000+ km day without even feeding the troops?

Sandwiches in tank bag, eat on the go! It's what I do when I'm on an IBA run lol.

I think perhaps he means "sit down lunch" vs "Timmies, eat in the parking lot, and go" maybe?
 
Thats jt, gotta grab the modular helmet so I can eat on the straight stretches on the fly. Don’t ride behind me or you might catch a few toppings.

There is a funny story about that happening on my first ever IBA ride. Long story short, I had a mustard skunk-stripe on my helmet for probably around 800km that I had no idea about until the end of the ride. I'm sure a few others at gas stations and on the road got a laugh.

That is a fun stretch of Hwy 518 where it looks like Shane wants to do an out-and-back

Will definitely try to join the ride Shane if I get the bike running! These rides are always lots of fun and a great test of one's endurance.

Definitely going counterclockwise as the route suggests. I find it nice to ride into the sunrise and not be riding into the setting sun after a long day of twisties.

Waypoint 29: Hwy 518 is so nice it's worth doing twice. But then I read my ride report from last year and noticed I didn't go back westbound on it because I saw deer on the side of the road and the setting sun would have been on my eyes on a twisty road very late in the day. So I've now revised the route to cut that out - some thing like:

Yup as mentioned - just no time for a longer sit down lunch.
Let's all bring our own food and take breaks every couple hours at scenic spots for a quick rest and recharge.

Not sure I would want to do this on a naked bike. This will be an intense day and that wind will be really tiring after 10-12 hours.

You have a small windscreen for that thing?

I do, and i had it back then.

Thanks to my TT bicycle, tucking in feels natural lol

But i've "aged" since lol
